In a perfect world, there would not be a debate over whether or not the Arts should be in schools. The Arts would still be in schools nationwide and their budgets would not keep getting cut. Sadly, we do not live in that perfect world and we are faced with the sad truth; many kids are not getting an education in the arts and are not living up to their full potential because so many arts programs have been cut nationwide. Kids are forced to focus on core classes and to constantly test. The Arts need to be in schools though, because it engages kids in a way that Math, Science, Social Studies and English cannot.

Teachers think the students will ignore them while they are talking to the class. With this amendment, it includes that if a teacher, or any adult, is speaking to you or the entire class, headphones will be out and you will pay attention to whomever is talking at the time. The headphones will also not be in use during group projects and presentations. Teachers also think that it would use up too much of the student 's battery, and the chromebooks would die by eighth hour. Although, if the student’s chromebook is one hundred percent charged when they get to school, they would not be dead by the end of school. If a student were to come to school without his or her chromebook completely charged, they would not be able to listen to music that day, and there would be no acceptions. According to a few students at Hebron Middle School, their chromebooks are about half charged after school without using music. Although teachers have concerns about letting the students listen to music during class, rules would go along with being able to listen to music during homework and
Music when you think about it is an incredible thing, it can change your view on the world, but who 's to say that can 't be a good thing. I don 't know if everyone feels the same but when I listen to music I just imagine myself at the concert having fun, or even at my own concert singing it, and most times on a stage dancing. When I listen to music I 'm just taken away to another land, another place, and time I 'm just gone in my own little world, and sometimes that world involves work. Sometimes my own little world involves homework, or cleaning, or going on a jog, sometimes that little world makes cores and work all the better. That world makes me want to finish it to the beat of the music and just relax, it 'll be done when it 's done, I find myself not wanting anything but the task in front of me when I have music.

Can music make a difference in a child?s life? Does music affect how a child develops throughout the early stages of life? In 1991 a phrase was brought out, it was the ?Mozart effect.? This phrase was used to describe the effect of Mozart?s music on children. Everyone thought if they let their children listen to Mozart, they would become smarter. People believed in this so much that the governor of Georgia asked for money to be set aside to give every newborn child a cd of classical music. This theory was very popular and everyone thought it was true. Even I was played classical music as a kid. It turns out this theory isn?t true. Mozart music doesn?t make you smarter. When you look at the original study of the Mozart music, the study wasn?t even done on children. It was done on young adults. The authors didn?t even used the phrase, ?Mozart affect? in their research or studies at all.
