William Cuthbert Faulkner was born in the small town of New Albany, Mississippi. He was born on the date of September 25, 1897. William was named after his great grandfather. His great grandfather, seven years before William was born was shot and killed in a town square. Some of the jobs he had throughout his life where a railroad worker, financer, politician, soldier, businessman, and a lawyer.
