Reading and writing has always been the two biggest fundamentals of my life more so writing. Some people say that in order to read one must know how to write, and others would say that in order to write one must know how to read. Reading and writing are two very important lifelong skills that should be taught at a very young age. Reading has not always been an important factor of my life because it is one of those things that does not interest me. On the other hand however writing has always been a major factor in my life for a various of reasons. Writing for me is my safe haven, the escape from reality when I am in need of a breath of fresh air. When I am unable to express how I feel verbally writing always come mind. Writing the thoughts in my head flows naturally with the rhythm on the in pen in my hand. Writing is an art to me, it comes naturally and free flowing. Being able to pick a pen or pencil has a great thrill behind it to me when it comes to writing. To have complete control over the thoughts I write on a blank sheet of paper with a bold point pen is exhilarating. The exhilarating feeling about books, however;dies down for me. Reason being, I was the oldest of three living with a single mother. When there are no books to read or have read to me it becomes easy just not to read. My passion for writing came from the shortage of books in the household where I lived. Not reading as a child or having someone read to me has really caused problems. Having to read in front of the class as a child was my worst nightmare, my only fear was mispronouncing the really big words. Unfortunately, the shortage of books in our household I do believe that caused my poor reading skills and my dislike for books.
