When interviewers asked Bennett Omalu what he thought of the movie "Concussion," he responded how he thought that everyone in America should see it because it teaches the truth. Whether people love or hate Omalu, there is no denying the greatness of his discovery. How did Omalu respond to Will Smith Portraying him? He praised Will Smith as a good man whose acting reaffirmed what he believed about the United States while growing up in Nigeria. They make the impossible possible. Omalu deeply loves the United States with the utmost sincerity.
Will Smith starred in Concussion, but believe it or not, he himself was a football father, and he did not originally want a role in the movie. Nevertheless, when Smith met with Omalu, he saw the sincerity of this neuropathologist, and it convinced him to play in the movie. The two have been wonderful friends ever since.

The film talks about the true story of Dr. Bennet Omalu, the scientist who discovered encephalopathy, a degenerative brain disease that can be found in a lot of football players. As a result of his acting in "Concussion," Variety presented Will Smith with their Creative Impact Award at the Palm Springs Film Festival. Omalu also gave his praise to Smith about how he helped to enlighten the general public about how safer procedures in football should be practice. Each character displayed in the breakfast club played a significant role in showing how individuals from varies backgrounds can relate to other another. John Bender is considered the criminal of the group. He is known as a bully and trouble maker with no regard for authority. Bender seems to be desperate for attention which could explain his behavior. His reputation as being tough and a jerk perceives him.
Will Smith has been a victim of second degree murder by a man named Cardell Hayes on April 9th 2016. It started off as a simple hit and run on Mr. Hayes which slowly but surely escalated to Hayes pulling out a gun and fatally shooting and killing Mr. Smith. On a surveillance video it shows a Mercedes SUV trailing a Hummer, until the latter vehicle stops abruptly. The Mercedes pulls up quickly, too, possibly hitting it from behind. Both vehicles are a standstill briefly, until the Hummer starts to pull over; the Mercedes, though, goes around and drives off.
But it does not really sum up the enjoyable book by Esther Forbes. Without all the details and struggle between each chapter of the novel, the movie is not as
‘Concussion’ Official Movie Trailer Will Smith takes on a controversial role, one that will reveal earth shattering information about one of America’s favorite sports, football. Smith’s character exposes the dangers and lifelong repercussions that haunt an alarming amount of former football players, possibly even younger than high school. For the players and those that love or have loved a former player with concussion syndrome, this movie promises to alleviate the virginal denial that prohibits proper treatment for its victims. A subject near and dear to my heart, welcome or not, I personally believe this movie will change the face of football.
Former NFL superstar tight end Aaron Hernandez was convicted of executing a man. He killed him with six bullets inside an industrial park, he and was sentenced to life in prison (“Aaron Hernandez’s”). Concussions are a scary reality of playing National Football League (NFL). Every year there are more and more players that are having season ending, or career ending injuries due to hits to the head.
In the true story based movie and the documentary, the dangers of head injuries in football are laid out for the viewer. Dr. Bennet Omalu discovered the brain injury chronic traumatic encephalopathy, or CTE; however, the NFL was in denial about the effects football had on the brain and had on causing CTE. I believe that the NFL’s denial to the accusations were detrimental to many football players and that serious consideration should be taken into the way football is played overall. When Dr. Omalu originally diagnosed CTE on Mike Webster and the NFL denied that football was the cause for his death and disease.
Some of the tests revealed damage to the amygdala which controls mood. Additionally the NFL players scored much lower on memory tests, and had worse verbal skills (Hedin, 2015) 5. Due to the recent number of suicides & violent crimes committed by former players, there is more of a need to research the correlation between the head injuries in the NFL and brain disease even more C. Thesis Point 3: What steps the National Football league has taken to protect players long term health and safety 1. With the scrutiny the NFL has come under, they have developed a new protocol for the diagnoses and treatment of players with concussions 2. Under the new protocol, any player who exhibits sings of a concussion, even the most remote sign, must come out of the game and be checked out by the medical staff, they may not return to the same game if they undergo tests for concussion.
“Deadly Hits” by Lauren Tarshis analyzes the topic of concussions. Over 300,000 concussions, or brain injuries, occur each year in sporting events. Ms. Tarshis analyzes 13-year-old Zackery Lystedt, a Tahoma Junior High football player, who suffered a near-fatal concussion while playing football in Seattle, Washington. According to the author, Zackery ’s injury was the result of a head injury.
Imagine being the MVP of an all star sports team, then suffering a concussion from a very competitive game or tournament. No matter what sport an athlete plays or how skilled they are at it, there is always going to be a possibility of injury. Concussions are an injury with serious side effects and can permanently end any star's career. Today, many young athletes suffer from sport related concussions. An estimated 3.8 million recreational and athletic concussions occur annually in the United States, according to statistics in 2012 (Concussion and Sports).

Football has the highest rates of catastrophic head injuries (16).The long term health effects of high impact sport injures can be super dangerous. “Medical researchers at Boston University recently confirmed that 88 of 92 former NFL players donated their brains for research…”(15). “... NFL players who donate their brains for research suffered from chronic traumatic encephalopathy( C.T.E.), a brain disease induced by repetitive head trauma and linked to depression,aggression,impulse-control problems,memory loss, and dementia”(15).
THE INCREASING NUMBER OF CONCUSSION IN ATHLETES ARE DETRIMENTAL TO THE FUTURE OF SPORTS In the recent years, concussions have become a common accident related to various types of sports around the globe. A concussion is a traumatic injury of the brain, they can also be as a result of a sudden blow on the body. Such a blow may cause the head to jerk back and forth in a rapid motion. This may cause a bounce or twist within the skull, which may over stretch the brain, cause cell damage and alter chemical functioning within the brain.

Will Smith plays the role of Dr. Omalu Bennet (Dr. discoverer) who is a forensic pathologist with a Nigerian decent; he pioneers a challenge against the National Football League (NFL). Dr. Omalu brought to light the brain damage issue that was evident in retired NFL players, an issue he challenges the management to speak the truth on. The initial unfolding of the brain damage issue occurred in September 2002 when he, Dr. Omalu was called upon to conduct an autopsy on Mike Webster’s body.
