The best way to stay safe during a winter storm is to stay indoors. Staying indoors as much as possible will allow you and your family to weather the worst of winter storms. When you are inside, it is important to remember that, although your home is the safest place to be during a winter storm, you may still be at risk from some indoor hazards. Power plants burn fuel to produce heat to generate energy; however, nuclear power plants use the heat given off fission to turn water into steam. Key Findings In analyzing Buckingham’s results, it calls out that a little over one in four Springfield residents did not attend a baseball game of any level professionally (Cespedes, 2009). I would have liked to see further questioning on this as to why they feel they have not seen a game. Was it that they didn’t have the funds to pay the minimum of $12 per person to see a Red Sox game, plus the traveling expenses? Was it that they weren’t interested at all?
Over 1 million coal miners of the 1902 era did not receive the fair compensation for their tiring and difficult labor. The miners believed that they deserved the right to have a say in their working conditions, health and safety issues, their working hours and their rates of pay. Miners had seen a constant reduction in wages over several years but their rents had stayed the same. The United Mine Workers demanded better benefits but the government was reluctant. A series of strikes were sure to come about.

A debate has arisen due to the decision to not have a snow day today. When winter comes this debate always seems to be a common disagreement. Should schools have a snow day, or should they keep the doors open? When snow hits the ground and the roads become icy should you really risk your life just to go to school?
Heavy rain or snow can cause them to lose control due to the street and cars no longer able to be seen clearly. They begin to lose control from trying to stay on the road, leading to an accident. Since older people have worse vision than younger people, they have a more difficult time driving through the rain or snow. Elderly drivers may also decide to avoid driving during the bad weather conditions, but weather is spontaneous. If bad weather suddenly occurs while they’re driving, they will not be able to stop and immediately lead to panic.
It also helps if someone has a NOAA Weather Radio, it will alert for people to watch for a tornado. People can access a local T.V., radio, or internet for more information. Beforehand, people can create safe rooms or wind shelters to provide an area for them and their family to go for high levels of protection. The rooms below the ground provide the most protection, but a safe room on the first-floor can provide the necessary protection. Families should practice tornado drills so that everyone knows what to do during a tornado.
Next, there are certain stages that don’t just reduce the size, it also reduces the impact. They go all the way up to 5 stages from both storms. By stage 5, on hurricanes, your walls start to claps. Stage 5 on tornadoes, your house is crumbled in to pieces and goes on with the tornado.
Assessing the conditions around you help to keep yourself as well as others around you safe. Speeding always increases the number of fatalities in collisions. Things to do to avoid fatality include: use time management, monitor your speeding, be careful and stay alert, and slow down according to the situations around you. Driving too fast for conditions usually contribute to traffic violations. Knowing that speeding is most often in correlation to fatalities is a huge eye-opener.

It is true that there have been major accidents at Three Mile Island, Chernobyl and Fukushima. However those are the only accidents that have occurred in a total of 16,000 cumulative reactor years (“Safety of Nuclear Power Reactors”). The actual amount of accidents that happens are quite low. Moreover, even when those accidents happen, the radiation that you would receive would (normally) be the same or less than what you would receive from natural sources (Lynas). Thus, if those accidents happen, and it is very unlikely that they will, they will not give you any adverse effects when handled
