The GRI is having quality problems on their products which putting the company in jeopardy, facing a number of lawsuits due to some failure of wire rope. As the new Finance Manager, you have the responsibility to help the company solve the problem. Being a former employee of RWC, the competitor of your company, you acquire valuable information and experiences on the industry of wire rope, which is a big factor why GRI hired you and offered a high salary so in returned you are expected to contribute to the company’s growth. Given that GRI needed to developed a special machine and process to its production of wire in order to addressed the quality problems of the company, the Management Committee must have formed a research and development team that will worked on developing the needed special machine and process, consisting of highly technical and skilled employees, engineers, researchers, etc. This solution may take a lot of time and financial resources of the company without 100% success, but the higher the risk, the higher the income. When the research and development of the special machine and process become successful and it will create a perfect and quality-competitive wire rope that will address the company’s problem.
b. If internally developing a special machine is not viable, acquiring that same and/or alternative machine and ejecting new process in order to produce a high-quality wire rope should be taken in consideration. Company researcher should be task to search for any alternative machine that can be bought outside the country. Or sending a trusted employee, if given the financial resources and time, going abroad to have plant inspection/visit with the same industry and have a benchmarking on the machines and processes they used in producing wire
UCM:CPSW did a home visit and met with foster parent (Dorothy Bensalih), Emeri and Cantarah. Cantarah was playing with her IPad and Emeri. CPSW talked with Contrarah briefly and asked about school and any other concerns. Cantarah reported that she is doing well and excited about her new Ipad and plays with it after school. Emeri was sitting and playing with his sister during the meeting.
