Women get less pay than men all because of their gender. They only make not even a third what the men make in sports all because they are women. Have you ever watch womens college softball? The catches where the centerfielder dives, or the shortstop makes an unbelievable double play. These athletes train their whole lives to not get recognized or have the opportunities that men do. This affects me because I play a higher level in sports and I hope that one day I can live my dreams of continuing to play softball. I train for the competitiveness, for the challenge, for the feelings that the softball field gives me. Women have been playing basketball alongside men since the beginning of basketball. They have played physical and hard games, just like men, but women are still paid incredibly low. Although WNBA players do not draw as large of crowds as men, women who play in the WNBA should be given an increase in the amount they are paid because women can be just as skilled as men who play basketball, and they are not paid enough despite being professional athletes. WNBA players deserve a higher paycheck because women who play professional basketball have the same skill and capability as men. For example, there have even been women drafted into the NBA because they had the same level of skill as NBA players.
There is no denying that women in sports are underpaid. However, there are many reasons that contribute to this outcome besides cries of misogyny. As we already have observed the numbers of pay between both men and women in soccer, there is one culprit that stand out. Stated by Clarke in her article , “men are paid for individual performances, while the women have negotiated year-round salaries” (Clarke, Equity, June 11, 2019).
Clearly, this is why the WNBA should get paid as much as men do. A second reason why the WNBA should get paid more is that women’s sports don’t get as nearly as
Title IX was meant to order change in American education by illiminating discrimination on gender, but instead it still has problems and could use some improvement. One of the main splits between men and women athletics is the pay gaps between the two sexes. The salary difference between the United States Mens and Womens National Teams proves this. For example, “Each player on the USWNT earns $99,000 per year provided the team wins 20 “friendlies” (exhibition matches), the minimum number of matches they would play. By contrast, each men’s player would earn $263,320 for the same feat and would still earn $100,000 if the team lost all 20 games,” (Walters 3).
Should Female Athletes Be Paid the Same As Male Athletes in Sport One of the main reasons why women shouldn’t be paid the same in sports is the amount of money that the leagues actually bring in compared to their male counterparts. The amount of money that the leagues bring in is such a big difference because of the amount of memberships that the women's teams have, the amount of people who actually go to the games and the amount the sponsor ships bring in for the leagues. This is a very important thing that contributes to the fact that women don't get paid the same amount of money as the men.
Even though the WNBA is not as popular as the NBA does not mean that the WNBA players should be paid as little as they do. Forbes.com stated that “In 2017 the total amount of salary for WNBA players was $11,775,000 this means that the WNBA paid no more than 22.8% of its revenue to its players.) Two years ago, the same approach was used to estimate that the WNBA players were receiving only 33% of league revenue. So it appears the gender wage gap in professional basketball is worsening”. This is estimated but it is most likely accurate if this is anywhere close the what the WNBA players are making then this is terrible.

This pay difference can discourage the girls that want to become professional athletes. Thus, limiting the sports available for women to play and places to play in. Professional female athletes should be paid the same amount as professional male athletes because women should have equal representation and pay as the men, women are just as successful in sports as the men, and the best players are getting paid by foreign leagues to not
There is an salary disparity between men and women n sports, which is an complicated issue that reflects larger cultural biases and inequalities. Despite major advancements in recent years, female athletes still make much less money then their male counterparts and still face an number of obstacles in terms of representation, media attention, and accessibility to opportunities and resources. In order to solve these problems, it is crucial that we keep bringing attention to the gender pay gap in sports and work to build more inclusive and fair settings that encourage female athletes at all levels. It also entails prompting equitable access to resources and opportunities for girls and women to participate in sports, as well as boosting visibility and representation of women in sports media. We can contribute to building a more welcoming and empowered world for the upcoming generation of female athletes by standing up for gender equity in sports and promoting equal pay and opportunities for all athletes.
Women in sports can compete the same, and sometimes even stronger, as men so their pay should just be as much as them, and the gender pay gap shouldn’t be present. If both sexes play the exact same sport, why do they have different fiscal values? A lot of money to you and me, yes.
Why are women in sports being paid less than men? In the past, women didn’t have the same rights as men because they were seen as less than or property. Gender Inequality in sports is an issue as old as sport itself. I choose this topic because we as a society seem to sweep it under the rug time after time. Women in sports however, try to address the issue only to have it go on deaf ears, leaving them to continue in the sport hoping something will change. Over the last few decades, strides have been made, but he sport remains an institution dominated by men. These women, whether they are in sport or in the business world, want a fair chance to be on the same level as their male counterparts.
“Female discrimination in sports is a common occurrence all around the world, women are seen as less than males.” (Ladrea) Equality in sports is unequal. In the 1800 women got very little attention and did not get the opportunity to play in any sport in America and all around the world. There were some events women could participate in but it could not be competitive, it was focused on getting active and staying active.
