Women, Soldiers, African Americans In The 1860's

After the Civil War and Reconstruction ceased, the South 's Lost Cause was introduced to the southern United States by ex-confederates. A very politically influenced movement, the Lost Cause, while building a legacy for the controversial Redemption, was subject to backlash for it 's false interpretations of what slavery was like as well as how they interpreted the event of the Civil War. Even with all of its misinterpretations and falsities, however, the Lost Cause influenced the memories of many of the Civil War, Redemption, and slavery for generations to come. The lost cause was spurred by ex Confederates as a way to get back at the union and to prove that the Confederate spirit was not lost, even though the Civil War had ended years ago.

You can see the sadness in her eyes you can tell how miserable she is. She was as sad as death. I would not judge her because she had to overcome so many harsh obstacles in her life. She suffered a lot throughout her life. Her owners would abuse of her while the other slaves would observe.

Their eyes could be focused on vital things of life and the life to come, yet they continue to walk down the path that whties have led us to. This causes them to continuously strive to be something that they are not. All blacks should be happy with what they are instead of conforming into the caucasian way of life.

Throughout many years, racism has taken place starting as early as the construction of what is now the United States. There have been certain issues such as different colors of skin clashing to even demeaning a different race placing them into a different social class. Certain races, majority not being white, have been forced into slavery without even understanding why this is taking place to them. Races were being split into different groups. The white groups were looked to as superior compared to the black race who were looked to as just property and free labor.

“As a child soldier, your rights are constantly violated,” said Ishmael Beah, human rights spokesman and former child soldier. There are many children around the world who went through what Ishmael Beah did and feel the same way. Using children as soldiers has been a large issue around the world, with children being forced to fight in the army or resistance groups. Children are given a weapon and some clothes, then they are thrown out onto the battlefield, doing whatever it takes to survive and to kill. The use of child soldiers in Afghanistan is a human rights violation for many reasons.

Political parties were divided and created. Both settlers and congressmen were experiencing violence and tension that was caused by the divisive politics of slavery. Finally, the South seceded, feeling like they’ve lost their voice in the federal government with Lincoln’s election. Overall, the issue of slavery and failure to compromise made every American at the time felt like they were discriminated against or ignored. The Civil War was an event that was almost inevitable due to the constant fighting and difference amongst the country. There was no equality and most people only decided on things in which they would be benefitted. The country could only endure so much more division before a war would occur. Numerous events such as John Brown’s Raid, The Compromise of 1820 and 1850, and Bleeding Kansas, but the most significant event is the Election of 1860. The Election of 1860 was significant because it was the start of extreme division between the people and the territories.

The Southern people are not so welcoming towards African Americans, they wish that they would either return to being slaves or go back to Africa or where they were taken from. These laws affected both the north and the south. The North had a big hand in helping the South

Reasons to secede Though there could be listed many reasons why the southern states chose to secede. As stated in the introduction of this paper, the primary one that many historians refer to is slavery. This paper will explain why slavery was such a big reason for the secession. In addition to that, it will examine two other reasons, namely, economy and the rights of states. The Civil war was a very devastating event in history that was a test on the families who had loved ones both in the war and living far away from the rest of their family. People on the home front wanted to help but felt like there was not anything they could do. Also, the addition of the draft into the war it caused more of a burden and fear of losing their loved ones.
