In 1914-1918 there was a large war with many countries, peace was not a consideration. Not only did grown men were forced to fight in the war but boys that just graduated high school were forced, and died in war. “ what was the underlying cause of world war I?” one of the major cause of the war was militarism out of one of the four. The other three ar alliances, imperialism, and nationalism, but i 'm only walking about three of them, not nationalism.

After reading “President Woodrow Wilson Asks Congress to Declare War, 1917” and “W.E.B Du Bois, Returning Soldiers, 1919” I was able how different they viewed the war and the people involved. When it came to President Woodrow he tried to show Congress how going to war would be a good choice. One the other hand Du Bois showed the public how we may be fighting this war to help other countries but when it comes to our own nations and soldiers were not doing anything to help them. When it came to both documents I believe that they have different views and feelings about war.
In Wilson’s program, he included fourteen main actions he advocated the Allied Powers taking, many of which surrounded redefining territory borders and providing Eastern Europeans with complete autonomy and self-determination. For example, points VI, VII, and X advocated that the Allies evacuate Russia, Belgium, and Austria-Hungary’s territories and allow the countries self-determination. Also, point IX supported reconstructing Italy’s borders around lines of nationality and point XII recommended that the Allied Powers create an independent Polish state out of territories with large Polish populations. Additionally, in the Fourteen Points, Wilson called for an abolition of secret treaties, a reduction in national armaments, a change in colonial claims in the interests of natives and colonists, the removal of economic barriers between countries, and a world organization that would provide collective security for all
Throughout 1916 the Americans held fast to the hope of not becoming involved in the war. However, there hopes slowly started to fade as they began to realize that the war was going to happen. Not only did Woodrow Wilson believe that the war was the answer to America’s problem, he also expected Americans to jump into supporting the war. When American’s disagreed with the war, the government began to forcefully make them agree.
War is raging on all fronts. The United States is holding true to its neutrality in World War I. As the war continues, growing suspicions creep into the households of everyday American people. The pressures of Germany are a growing problem for the United States. Germany ultimately forced the U.S. to declare war on them.
Woodrow Wilsons’ main objective was for World War 1 to be the “war to end all wars”, promoting peace, security, and unity throughout the international system, and overall creating a League of Nations. The fact that there was a WWII shows that Wilson’s ideas were somewhat ineffective; however, some of Wilsons points were successful and implemented after WWI. The first four points were ineffective because countries still make secret agreements amongst themselves and the European colonies were not allowed self-determination. Points 5-13 were actually successful because they restored national sovereignty to various places in Europe. The League of Nations was never strong and failed to prevent future wars (Italian invasion of Ethiopia or the Japanese

The Progressive Era is one of the reasons America still stands strong today. It lasted from the 1890’s to the 1920’s and seeked to reform American policies and government. There are 3 main people who have contributed to the Progressive area - Theodore Roosevelt, William Taft, and Woodrow Wilson. These three presidents enforced and introduced laws and regulations that allowed more flexibility and choice for the people, and they are still in use today. If it weren’t for them, America would still be overly ruled by corporations and silenced by the government and our people would be sick.
Wilson 's declaration of war expresses that Germany was threat to the world. They planned to turn everyone’s government to their own. There were many ways they tried to take control and some of which are German spies and submarine warfare. Both The 14 Points that Wilson gave, and The Treaty of Versailles gave very good points about what needs to done. They both hit that “M.A.I.N” issues that were the causes of WWl. But The Treaty of Versailles gave a lot more understanding and definition that what Germany can, cannot, and need to do to make up for the war. This is why the treaty is a little better than The 14 Points.
He was viewed as one of the most conspicuous heroes of the war. As President, Roosevelt held the ideal that the Government should be the great arbiter of the conflicting economic forces in the Nation, especially between capital and labor, guaranteeing justice to each and dispensing favors to none. WWI (1914-1918) was a disastrous conflict between two sides - the Allied Powers and the Central Powers. It resulted in the victory of the Allies. There were plenty of Central Powers weaknesses, the Schlieffen plan, weak allies of Germany and their hard economic situation at the end of the WWI. However, it was not only due to these weaknesses, Allied Powers had a few strengths, that made them won. The most important of these are : greater army, control of the sea and support of the USA since 1917, while Germany was already running out of supplies and soldiers.
