But in the poem “I, Too” it talks about racism and how he is going to overcome it, we can see this when Hughes states “Besides, They’ll see how beautiful I am And be ashamed(15-17)” this shows that he doesn 't care about what they think about him because he know that he is beautiful. Hank Williams Sr. and Johnny Cash were two great country songwriters and singers. They had their similarities and differences in their time on earth. They both had similar lifestyles as a child and singer, but they each had a different way of controlling their drug and alcohol use. The ups and downs in their life made them who they are today.

First, they are written around the same time period and both about blacks being discriminated. Both the poems gave African Americans a little bit of hope that one day they will be allowed to be around whites and looked at as the same. These poems may be different, but they both have the same meaning. If anyone is going through a rough time in their life, they can overcome it. Blacks were treated terribly and went through some of the roughest times, but they never stopped fighting and never lost hope. That is why these poems are about and why they are so similar.

With the ability to transform ordinary mediums, artists create a new perspective. Bob Dylan uses his music to express a message in each of his songs. Bob Dylan is not only a musician, but also an author and a painter. He utilizes these different art mediums to spread awareness of the social and political injustices of the United States. Dylan began to write songs after his mentor,Woody, encouraged him to do so. He “began writing songs at an astonishing pace, including ‘Song to Woody,’ a tribute to his ailing hero”(Bob Dylan Biography). Woody inspired Dylan to create music to connect with others. “The Death of Emmett till ”, which depicts the story of a young boy who was beaten to death by white men, was Dylan's first ever protest song.

Growing up in the 20th and 21st century, there never was a shortage of music to listen to and never a shortage of people telling me what kind to like. From rap, to rock, to folk music, music is all around. One genre that stuck with me and easily became my favorite: Country Music. My love began in the summer of 2000, while my dad was playing his hank Williams Jr. CDs, I screamed “Dad! Dad! This song is really good!!!!! I like it a lot!” He replied “This is Hank Williams Jr. son.”, and my love only grew from there. I started to explore older country music and the history around it. I fell in love with two artist in particular. I saw the light and fell in love with Hank Williams Sr. and Johnny Cash. These men are considered the fathers of contemporary country. The way their music is written is so masterful and creative, they launched a new wave of country music.

While Whitman's poem, "I Hear America Singing" reflects the happiness of the American people, the poem written by Hughes takes a different approach. The two stories Black Swan Green by David Mitchell and Letters to a Young Poet by Rainer Maria Rilke are similar because both are about mentors and mentees in poetry. Both mentors have a young poet seeking help from them. The young poets both learn valuable lessons from the mentors on their writing. The mentors tell them to write what they think and about what they know and love. They tell the poets only to write if they need to write to live and want to dedicate their lives to it. The authors both use many literary elements in their writings. From Letters to a young poet, Rilke uses many different literary elements to teach the young poet more about writing. “So rescue yourself from these general themes and write about what your everyday life offers you.” Rilke is telling the young poet to be original and write about his own life experiences and his own original thoughts. He’s telling the young poet to not use cliches and to be his own self. In other words, Rilke also wants his mentee to look to himself for his ideas.
