ABSTRACT
Project management is a field of management practice that has been consistently utilised by organisation globally to achieve results in all project execution. Project management aid business corporations to minimise the duration in development of products, make use of available resources, and manage stakeholder’s requirements (Cleland, 1998). In project management, project planning is essentially the first step where all requirements for the successful creation and delivery of project outcome is defined and these activities are clearly done by using project management tools. This article evaluates the use of projects management tools and how they impact project outcome. This study also analyses two project planning tools namely; Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and the Gantt chart. The focus of this paper is to discuss the use of these planning tools, their advantages, deficiencies, and comparison of their features and recommend ways to mitigate any challenge that may arise during the course of utilisation.
