Introduction Work stress is always a common problem that faced by every employees in any organizations. Work stress and work-life balance are always linked together (Razak, Yusof, Azidin, Latif & Ismail, 2014). It happens among the working mothers who come back to work after married and owning their children. The issues of work stress and work-life balance among working mothers are given full attention the number of the working mothers who enter the workforce is increasing dramatically as compared to before. In the past decades, the working mothers after married are normally stayed at home instead of entering the workforce. Nowadays, they share the same responsibility with their spouse to earn a living. First, the background of the study which is related to the work stress and work-life balance among working mothers is discussed thoroughly. Then, the problem statements are then stated in this chapter. These problem statements are obtained from the past researches and are then reconstructed according to the research topic. Furthermore, the research objectives which included the main objectives and specific objectives are built. These objectives are mainly connected to the work stress and work-life balance among working mothers in Kota Bharu, Kelantan. In the aspect of theoretical knowledge, this study can assists in finding the exact perception of working mothers towards work stress and work-life balance. Furthermore, this study also contributes in searching the exact intrinsic and extrinsic factors that cause the work stress among working mothers in workforce and how the work stress effects them in balancing work and family
