Although the American Civil War is normally seen as something that threatened to tear our great country apart, their are many great inventions and innovations that resulted from this time. Some of these advancements include railroads, the telegraph, long-range weapons, and the ancestor of all machine guns, the gatling gun. Many of these inventions went on to play a huge role in how the civil war played out. While others, such as the cotton gin, had minimal effect on the war, but a direct effect on both the men in service, and the people back home. Early war technology was seen as very dull, and ineffective.

World War 1 was the first war were propaganda played huge role in keeping people at the home front informed about what was happening throughout the battlefields. This was also the first war where the government introduced propaganda to target the public and change their opinion on war (“Propaganda in World War 1”). There were many reasons for the governments to use propaganda throughout World War 1 such as; to blacken the enemy's name, to turn countries against another country, to persuade people into enlisting, to make war sound glorious ("Facts - AL WWI Propaganda."), and to calm down or even to stir up emotions throughout the war. One of the main ways propaganda was used in World War 1 was to ensure that the public only knew what the governments wanted them to know.

When the war drew to a close in 1918, relief was felt on both the Allies and Entente side. Troops that were sent home with all limbs basically got their picks of the ladies, but even though they might have been physically well no one escaped the trenches with their mental health intact. When they arrived home they came to a different dynamic because women were now in a position of power and the overall feeling was that no one wanted to be in a war again. World War I bring many outcomes like nationalism and militarism. The advanced technology and many more advanced weapons were used in the war. America’s role in the war was only to export useful weapons, clothes and shoes into the war, but after US merchants was being killed, America enters in the war to support Allies.

Being able to voluntarily support your country would make it feel like much more of a democracy and patriotic opposed to the government telling people that they had to do something like a dictatorship. With the men off to fight in the war, before, but especially after the draft, women had to fill the places of men in the workforce. They took on jobs that men would normally do. African Americans also were able to take jobs that they normally would not be able to take due to the lack of available work force. This was a way of supporting the country by keeping up the economy and the work back home.

The impacts of World War One on America included economic, political, and social effects. Social effects included fashion. Before the war, women would change up to three times a day. During the war, women took a simple look due to the conservation of materials for the war. Political impacts included the Treaty of Versailles and the League of Nations.
