How did WW1 impact on those who remained in Australia? World War 1 was the First World War. Men from all over the world fought for the country we live in today in this society. For the people who had fought for this country are remembered as the heroes of today. WW1 was a tough time for troops and families.
“European nations began world war 1 with a glamorous vision of war, only to be psychologically shattered by the realities of the trenches, the experience changed the way people referred to the glamour of battle , they treated it no longer as a positive quality but a dangerous illusion.” (Virginia Postrel) Many soldiers did not expect WW1 to be as gruesome as it was. “The War To End All Wars” changed the way people looked at war not just soldiers but the families and friends at home.

After having studied them all, I have narrowed it down to Militarism and Imperialism, but I believe that the main cause was Alliances. The term Militarism refers to a country’s belief to have a strong military and be prepared to use it whenever necessary in order to defend their country.

The progressive reform that had the greatest impact on American society was the 18th Amendment which made the producing, transporting, or selling of alcohol prohibited. It all began when the Anti-Saloon party gained an advantage during World War I. Women who began these reforms gained support because of their influence on the workforce. If the women had not helped by working men’s jobs during the war, it would not have been as easy. Another aspect of the war that contributed to the amendment's publication was the limited resources available. Since alcohol was made of food sources, many saw it as a waste of food supply that could have been used for “our boys at war”.

The Causes of the First World War Carmen There were quite a few causes of the first world war (WW1). The long-term causes were the militarism, alliance system, imperialism and nationalism- MAIN. The short-term cause was the fact that Austria-Hungary blamed Serbia for killing Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife. I personally think the most significant cause to WW1 is the alliance system and here, I will justify why I think like this. I think the most significant cause of WW1 was the alliance system.
