It wasn’t until the early hours of the following morning that the shooting finally stopped. The sun brought itself up over the ridge to illuminate the awfulness of the previous night. Bodies lay in the streets, some still gripping their weapons, some never touched one. Wounded found their way into corners and under cover waiting for help. Some townspeople were found bound and gagged, held at gunpoint. Their captors sick of death but fearing more to come stood solitary behind them. That very same morning, while people were fleeing the town for saner refuge, they stumbled upon a very unusual sight. A knife sticking vertical into the ground. As they looked up they saw a black parachute with a man hanging from it. The cord was wrapped around
The Valley Forge Tragedy Many people have talked about Valley Forge and the tragic things that have happened there. I would not like to stay at Valley Forge. In document A (Estimate Of Illness And Deaths at Valley Forge), it states how many died. Also, how many people got sick. There was about 3,989 soldiers who got sick, and 1800 of them who died.
Hi Bridgett, This painting is so on-point. There were many writers, artists, thinkers, and playwrights who fought in WWI. Their experiences were reflected in their works. Many of the show the horrors of war, disillusionment, man 's inhumanities to man, and the grotesqueness of their experiences. In many ways these paintings look like exaggerations but in a lot of ways, they were the realities of modern warfare: poison gas, machine guns, and advanced technologies.
On March 5th 1770, British Soldiers shot and killed five colonists and injured 10 of them. The tragic event was nicknamed “The Bloody Massacre”, but the colonists were at fault because they were the ones that provoked the soldiers, they attacked the soldiers, and they created a chaotic scene. First reason why the colonists were at fault is because they are the ones that provoked the soldiers. (Paragraph 2 of page 155 from the book United States History Colonization through Reconstruction written by Michael B. Stoff and James West Davidson) “A crowd gathered…colonists shouted insults.”
The People’s Temple was a religious movement founded by Reverend Jim Jones in the mid 1950’s. Reverend Jones initially came from a humble begining living with his poor family in Indiana. As Jones grew older he began attending meetings and rallies for the U.S. communist party. Due to ongoing fear of the spread of communism in the U.S. Jones was often harassed and ridiculed by both the government and the public for his political leanings. It wasn 't until the early 1950’s when Jones became increasingly involved in the sommerset southside methodist church in Indianapolis, Indiana when his real intentions began to take shape.
Barbara Diefendorf's book, The Saint Bartholomew's Day Massacre is a window into the struggle of religion and secular power during the Protestant Reformation. Beyond the social elitism, mob mentality is an ever-present force that is ignited during the Religious Wars. Differences in religion are a contributor to factional tensions. Manipulation by religious leaders and misunderstanding between the two religious sects’ practices create this religious tension. Although Protestants and Catholics share the core teachings of Christianity, a struggle for secular power, feelings of tribalism, and conflicting religious ideals not only solidify the schism between these two sects of Christianity, but escalated these tensions to bloodshed.
Did you know that bloody Sunday was one of the worst massacres in Washington state history? Also known as the Everett Massacre. This day many people died. There was corruption and it was not a good time altogether. And the IWW (industrial workers of the world) had the most control over everyone because they were so big.
By the use of multiple adjectives and lines to describe a certain object or person, readers can indulge themselves in the story they are reading. On the second page of the story, readers are finally introduced to their protagonist, the sniper, whose “...eyes had the cold gleam of the fanatic” (164) and “...were deep and thoughtful, the eyes of a man who is used to looking at death,” (164). Readers can guess that his job as a sniper was probably the cause of such cold and bitter eyes, but begin wonder as to what experiences in his job had caused him to harden in such a way. Suddenly, the sniper is hit by a bullet, “there was no pain--just a deadened sensation, as if the arm had been cut off,” (165). The readers are presented with a horrifying description of how the sniper felt having his arm shot by an opposing sniper.
Matonabbee was born in 1737 at Fort Prince of Wales with his parents. After his father died, Richard Norton, the chief factor, decided to take care of him. However, after a while, a new factor was appointed and he did not take any care of Matonabbee so his family took him away and he spent 11 years at a Chipewyan village. There he learned the rituals and techniques of the Chipewyan tribe. After the 11 years, he went back to the Prince of Wales’s fort and because of the time he spent with his people, it provided him with an opportunity to learn the Cree language, and the years among his own people gave him a knowledge of the land and how to live on it.
“The Jonestown Massacre, Remembered,” by Jennifer Latson explains about a man named Jim Jones, a cult leader and a socialist in California persuaded over 900 people to drink a poisonous substance to commit suicide. This was one of the events that wasn’t taught about in history classes due to the amount of people that were willing to kill themselves in order to obey Jim Jones. My main point’s that I plan to use on this topic is the author successful in making her point, the information is accurate, and if the information is valid in her article. The main points in this article is explaining what happened in the Guyana jungle on November 18, 1978, when a man named Jim Jones, who was a socialist and a strict tyrannical cult leader. He was strict with his leadership in fact, he would have his own followers beaten if they didn’t listen to his sermons.
Telling a story. It seems simple, does it not? It has a beginning, middle, and end. There is a set plot, probably some morals, and a few characters. The ending may not give you many answers, but there will be an ending.

The man known for his famous midnight ride, Paul Revere was fundamental within the American Revolution of the years 1765-1785. This is just one of the many reasons why I believe Paul Revere is the most epic american to this very day. He was a multitalented individual with an abundant amount of skills to share with the colonies and communities in reach of those. Paul Revere's most known piece of artwork titled “The Bloody Massacre” shaped the world we live in today.
