And Scott continued the daily routine from running in the morning to movies in the night. While the Army brought out the worst in everyone there were some positive things that changed my dad’s life. For example, even now he still remembers the speeches his drill sergeant would give his unit after a long day. “It gave you five or ten minutes of normalcy at the end of the day.” The biggest thing that truly changed

However, I do remember them by showing me to never give up. Their words and actions will be with me forever, as hard as life gets, never back down, if you do… you better get back up. And to this day, I have been knocked down twice, but I have been able to get back up. Therefore, after losing two of my favorite people, there is now a good reason to celebrate Dia de Los

It was strange for me because, I came from a private school that had only thirteen kids per class room, so all around there were only about one hundred thirty kids that attended that private school this was going to be a huge change for. As I was wondering around the campus I felt so lost, felt like a stray dog trying to find its way other people were laughing and talking to one another maybe it because most of them came from the same middle school .It was hard for me to adjust all my friends were back home in New Mexico and not even my parents were with me on this eventful day they had to stay behind to pack out stuff into boxes .I had to come to California sooner because school started much early than back home. In a few short weeks, heartbreaking news and the beginning of a long struggle would transform the lives of myself and my family. My grandparents, living in that little brown ranch house, played a huge role in my early life, often my biggest supporters and role models. So when my eighty-three year old grandmother was told less than a month later that her congestive heart failure left her with less than six months to live unless she chose to have open heart surgery, I was devastated. She had vowed to never do it, leaving me to think I was bound to lose one of my best friends. Less than a month later, she

Solomon) handed me a recruiting pamphlet and asked, “Do you want to be apart of the best fighting force in the United States of America?” With all the images running through my mind from the news that morning, I remember telling him that after what I had seen this morning in New York, of course I did. He handed me his card and said, “Call me after graduation!” Over the next two and half years, I played sports year-round making sure that I keep myself in shape for recruitment. I keep in touch with Sgt.

Since joining the Monacan Band, my life has in one way or another revolved around the band. Four years ago I would have never thought about applying for a leadership position. The idea of having a leadership position seemed scary and different. However, having past members exemplify leadership skills and Ms. Ryan’s guidance, I was lucky to learn from them and used those skills as I served as a section leader for two years.
I used to have this grudges in my heart when everything go hard that would made me wanted to blame my parent. But I can’t because I was not raise to think that way. When I come to America, I was eleven years old and no one asked me if I wanted to come it just happen in a second. I was in a cold place with extended family that I never met before and that one person who raise me and made me feel secure was still back in the country. I had to lived months without her and next thing you know I adapted and convince myself they are doing this because the wanted the best for me.
