The trade I chose was Pharmacy Tech and I chose that trade because it seemed easy for me and sound like it was fun to do but my trade is 3 to 6 months my trade instructor is Mrs. Shelton-Bass and she is the best trade instructor ever because she tell me what all I have to do just to get out of the trade like we have 4 books but the forth book everything that we know about the trade and the packets from book 1. I have to say that the best thing I could have ever done was to come to The St Louis Job Corps Center. My struggles through high school were that of a teenage troublemaker. We get pressured with things we feel are more important and not measuring up to our peers kept a lot of us misfits from showing up. I was fascinated with the program when I heard I could have a Vocational Trade in Pharmacy Tech under my belt. Being totally honest I had no interest in my high school diploma. I wouldn’t even go to that class. My relationship with Mrs.Bass, meant more to me than just learning how to become a pharmacist. In all my defiance she pretty much took me under her wing and allow me to simply focus on my training. …show more content…
From Walgreens to CVS to hospitals such as Barns Jewish and Cardinal Glennon there are a host of jobs depending on skilled and prompt workers. I am one of those with my heart set on a bigger prize in the medical industries. I would like to own my own hospital or drug store and compete with the current business owners that really think they can get more customers than me. One thing I can say my family member’s tell me they say “it’s good to be an pharmacist because I can work at Walgreens or CVS at an early age and have a
I am currently a pharmacy technician in-training at Kroger Pharmacy, and plan to obtain my official technician license in December. I dispense medications, input patient 's information into the computer system, answer phone calls, maintain sanitation standards in the pharmacy, and help customers locate over the counter medications and supplies. Working at the pharmacy has taught me how to work efficiently in fast pace situations, how to prioritize what tasks neeed to be completed first, time management skills, and the names of
Dental Hygienist You know that feeling you have after you get your teeth clean? You feel refreshed and clean. Well dental hygienist feel the same way after they have completed their work for a patient. Dental hygienist feel accomplished and relaxed.
I got more out of that class than I have ever gotten out of my high school career. Of course I still got an education. I can
Trying to decide what career or job choice you want for your future is a tough decision to make. One day you might want to become a nurse, and the next day, you will want to become a veterinary technician. This is the situation that I went through in the past year, and all I can say is that going to school to become a veterinary technician was the best decision I have ever made regarding my future. I am excited and more ambitious toward my career than I ever have been, and I’m here to tell you why becoming a veterinary technician is an amazing choice to make!
Thank you for taking the time to review my personal statement on why I have chosen to embark on the journey to become a Physician Assistant. My story started several years ago, more than I care to count, when I stumbled into the health care world as a paramedic in rural Pennsylvanian. While in high school, I became friends with several other students who were actively volunteering with a local fire department. After hearing their stories about the things they were learning and doing I also joined a volunteer fire department, mostly out of curiosity. Over the course of a couple of years I discovered that the challenges that I encountered during training and responding to emergencies had unlocked some unrealized, more like unknown, drive inside
Today’s lecture on the physician assistants (PA) was very informative. Mrs. Hughes spoke on what a physician assistant is, what they do as well as what the requirements are for those who chose the career path. PA’s are individuals whom practice medicine while also being under the supervision of medical doctors or physicians. They can work in all areas of medicine including emergency medicine, surgery and psychiatry which Mrs. Hughes works under. Within this occupation individuals have the ability to prescribe medicine, diagnose and treat mental illnesses, give immunizations as well as perform various other tasks.
Gabby Dutsar is in her 4th year of the physicians assistant program at Wagner College in Staten Island, NY. She will be in her graduate year of the physicians assistant program next year. She is an alum of Conard High School and has taken the previous form of our Emergency Medical Services class known as Allied Health. The information Gabby provided reinforced my confidence that I want to be a physicians assistant.
Sitting at a desk, dragging fingers key to key on the keyboard, sipping the last sip of coffee from the mug that says “world’s greatest accountant” or any other lying quote that motivates throughout the undesirable day. In a life that the world expects to work hard for the first 18 years of life by forcing learning, such as walking, reading, to making and solving equations. Sitting at a desk for 13 to 14 years, just to live a life in a different desk for the rest of your working life. But, why live a boring life when a career that challenges on a daily basis, pumps adrenaline into the heart for more desire, while helping and saving people during the time of great need. As a physician’s assistant, life will never be boring.
Many people consider a job in the medical field most likely because it is widely accepted that if you are a doctor then you are rich. What turns most people away is the eight years of college and a lifetime of loans to pay off. When I was younger, I always wanted to be an orthopedic surgeon, but in fourth grade when you hear, you will have to go to four more years on top of the twelve you have left, your hopes are probably going to die down. I haven’t really thought about a job in the medical field until this year when I went to an orthopedic walk-in for an x-ray. The person I saw was a physician’s assistant, my mom proceeded to tell me how they are not very different from someone with a Ph.D., they can prescribe medicine and are able to choose
But you see, once I got to this new fancy school, it was just filled with more phonies. Well, anyway, I did end up passing all my classes except one, this one class nearly killed me. I did apply myself like that D.B. asked me to, but I just couldn’t pass that class. Nowadays I work for this lousy newspaper editorial.
The profession I have chosen to pursue is that of a Physician Assistant. My reason for this selection is because it gives you the independency of a Physician while having somewhat less responsibilities. A Physician Assistant provides healthcare services typically performed by a physician, under the supervision of a physician. Some of these services include but are not limited to examining and treating patients, diagnosing illnesses and counseling patients. In some case physician assistants are also tasked to prescribe medicine to patients.
Calvin Neal Exploring a Health Career: Physician Assistant Ever since my cousin Paul, whom I’ve always looked up to, went to college and became a PA, I’ve wanted to follow in his footsteps. The definition of a physician assistant is “someone qualified to assist a physician and carry out routine clinical procedures under the supervision of a physician.” However, physician assistants can be so much more than that. They work in numerous fields such as pediatrics, obstetrics, orthopaedics, and with several health care providers such as nurses, surgeons, and physicians.
Ever wondered what a medical assistant does everyday? Ever thought of going to school and becoming one? Learn about what a medical assistant does, how to become one and why they are so important. Also how to continue to more education and become something even higher! Things like a RN and LPN is higher and can continue from even there. I will also talk about why being a medical assistant is so important and why they are important to other people.
Modern patient care revolves around not just the skill of the doctor, but technology as well. When the equipment is running correctly, it allows the docs to do their job to the best of their ability. With the most accurate diagnostic equipment at the docs' disposal, the patients have a better chance at survival and recovery. When things are running smoothly around the facility and nothing is broken, the biomedical maintenance flight technicians use the time to perform routine preventative maintenance on all the equipment. They also provide the medics with training on how to properly use new equipment to prevent user error.
This presentation was a pharmacist by Alyssa Joherl. I liked that being a pharmacist get paid about 120,000 per year which is a little more than 2x the amount of the average range. Pharmacists also have many related occupations just in case you wanted to do something related but not a pharmacist. What I disliked about this career I did not like how you have to go to college for longer and might have to deal with not so nice patients. A similarity I found between pharmacists and animal trainers is that you have to administer medications.
