Towards the end of the book we are able to notice less and less conflict between Lizzie and her mother. Their encounters seem to be more intimate therefore strengthening their relationship and becoming closer; we are able to notice this shift happen after her mother becomes a councilor in Lizzie’s favorite camp. Instead of wanting to not be seen with her mother, the opposite is demonstrated with Lizzie seeking for people to see that she there was some sort of association with each other. Lizzie would be happy to see her and even initiate sitting with her, reactions that her mother would not have expected from her. Although there were some arguments here and there, their relationship drastically improved. They planed trips, Lizzie gives her mother a diary that she had written a few months ago, she began to become more open about what is going on with her and was even content and happy to have her engage in her afterschool wrestling club. …show more content…
Lauren was able to help her daughter go through adolescence in a safe and helpful manner in order for her to have a good transition into adulthood. This proves that adolescence in not simply a stage of rebellion from the adolescents, it is a stage of redefinition in roles, developing new sets of relationships and being able to understand and cope with all the new changes that are now presented in the adolescent’s life. These changes do not only happen to the emerging adult, this also happens with the parents as they have to deal with their child moving towards autonomy and developing their own identity and no longer agreeing and living by their parents words. Something that may be hard for parents to initially cope with but it is something that they need to over come in order for them to have a good relationship with their so or
Strength Ann Clare Lezotte, author of T4 and Crystal Allen, author of How Lamar’s Bad Prank Won a Bubba Sized Trophy are portraying their teenage protagonist to be courageous and loving. Both Lamar and Paula encounter obstacles they wish they did not have to endure. Although these are two different scenarios and time periods both authors show us the struggles and the feeling of hopeless when things begin to get difficult and are at their breaking point in losing hope. The time these two young teenagers have spent time away from their loved ones has given them strength as they experience life without an adult figure to guide them.
She was nice to them and even offered candy sometimes. Before the murders, she was worried about her family. She seemed quite sad when she found out her father was deceased. Lizzie could never bear to take it as far as to kill the Borden
My first reason is Lizzie seemed as if she was spoiled or wanted to be. When her dad bought the house for Abby. People may say that with the type of parents she had that she had everything she ever needed or wanted, but she seemed jealous of the
I believe a difficult moment for her was when her mother and Lori went away for the summer and left her in charge to pay the bills and feed the kids. Her father kept asking for money and as he expected her to do she would hand it over. He eventually convinced her that for her to get the money back he needed her to go on a “business trip” with him. This trip entailed her practically being sold to a man for sex by her own father. She kept thinking that her father would stop this man or that her father would come save her if anything were to happen.
“No point in building a good house unless you put down the right foundation,” Jeannette Walls’ father used to say in regard to the “Glass Castle”, something he always desired to build. A house isn’t the only thing that needs the right foundation. You build a foundation for a good life, relationships and a successful future. In the memoir The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls, she describes her rough life. Letting readers know where she came from and where she is now.
They hold unhealthy ideologies that no kid can thrive in. After burning themselves, being pushed out of moving vehicles, burning themselves again, and becoming subjects of sexual assault multiple times, these children never experience true nurture and healing of their pain. The parents have a ‘big kids don’t cry’ attitude which is not a lifestyle young kids thrive in. Jeanette’s issues are shot down especially by her mother. When she informs her mom her Uncle Stanley was touching her and “...playing with himself”, Rose Mary sympathizes with Uncle Stanley’s loneliness and tells Lori, “If you don’t think you’re hurt, then you aren’t” (Walls 184).

This article helps demonstrate how psychiatric problems are what lead teens down the wrong path, such as making wrong decisions in your life. Not only did Lorena make bad decisions but so did Julia after her sister died. Julia begins cutting herself and “turns out [she suffers] from severe depression and anxiety” (Sanchez 219). In this novel we see how much a loss of a loved one affects a teeanger more than a little kid, because teenagers are older and more aware of what they are capable of
The book starts with Miranda writing about her stepmother, " Lisa is pregnant"(Pfeffer 1). . Throughout the story, they lose phone connection and can't get in contact with her stepmom and start to worry and lose hope, until one day they finally hear from her that everything is fine with her and her family. Not only does her stepmothers pregnancy play a role in them keeping faith at the beginning of the story, but also as many troubling events occur. The last way is through a change in the main character.
This therefore shows us that Sheila, and the entire youth, may have the capability to mature. And at the end of the act, we see that Sheila and Birling maturity and responsibility levels have swapped, making Sheila his moral
Her family taught her many lessons, some not traditional, but has kept her positive through the hard times. These experiences contributed to her life as a successful adult. Through the example her mother has shown, the lessons she taught herself, and the lessons
By the end of the novel, she returns to where she started, at home with her aunt and brother, showing that discovery can help one to gain a greater perspective on what they had in the first
Although my experiences are not as drastic as hers, she inspires me to make my own decisions. As I grow, I realize more that my independence is important because I cannot rely on other people as much since everyone’s experiences are different. For example, when they were children in Guyana, my parents had to walk miles to school while I am able to take the bus to school. Although my parents and I went to school up until the same age, our experiences lead to different approaches in situations. The transition from middle school to high school was eye opening because in middle school the class would move together, whereas in high school, everyone went their own ways.
The most valuable thing that I learned by reading this is that Lizzie “took one for the team”. This is because at first everything pointed towards Lizzie killing the Bordens with a hatchet but once I finished reading the book it proved to me that Lizzie just did it to be a good person. This book could be recommended to anyone who is past the age of 16 because it has wording that younger people could not understand. Not only that but the story itself is about a gruesome killing and that wouldn 't be a good fit for someone who was young. Although I say I would recommend this book to anyone over 16, I really would recommend this book to anyone who is willing to read it because it is very entertaining and it keeps the reader wondering
And the things she’s going though is helping her learn her mistakes as a beginning teen. Also, how she could learn from it as she become more solder as a teen into an adult one
