The things that I need to improve when writing an essay is to help me write a thesis statement for my essay. I also need to improve the way I proof read and edit my essays after I finish them because I seem to miss my mistakes. I need to improve the way I make sentences in my essays run on sentences. I found some resources to help me improve these areas that I slack on in my essays. From what I read, a thesis must be specific, and motion towards what will be covered in the essay. The thesis gives a rough outline for the ideas to be discussed in the paper. To write an effective thesis statement the writer should know the topic and be able to transition from the topic to the thesis statement. Also, thesis statements should only be one to two sentences. If the writer can't sum up the main idea of the essay in one to two sentences, then he/she doesn't fully grasp the main idea yet.
