Wyndham Worldwide Corp is one of the world’s largest hospitality companies offering a variety of services to customers. The company is composed of three segments: hotel group, destination network, and vacation ownership. The Hotel Group consists of 7,923 franchised hotels and over 697,600 hotel rooms, which is the world’s largest company based on the number of properties. The type of hotels ranges from upscale to economy brands. The Destination Network represents the world’s largest provider of professional managed vacation accommodations, with 3.8 million exchange network members. Vacation exchanges are fee-to-service in the industry for timeshare developers and owners. It’s Vacation Ownership consists of 219 resorts and 887,000 timeshare owners, which is also the world’s largest vacation ownership business.
As a company in the hotel industry, Wyndham operates under franchise, management, and ownership business models. The franchise model expresses how the brand name is given to the owners in exchange for a percentage of room sales. They have truly developed a valuable brand name, which endorses the qualities of excellent hospitality across the globe. As a future recommendation, the company could expand more in the ownership business model. They currently have two hotels which are fully owned by them, but they should add more. This would be a big investment, however its well worth it to enhance the mission. Also, I would recommend that marketing is increased, to drive sales and gain more timeshare customers for the business. This company and their brand name is something that I would want to work for.
