The causes and effects of the decline and fall of Han China during the classical era had similarities and differences when compared to the political, economic, and social causes and effects of the decline and fall of Rome during the Classical era. First of all, the political causes of China’s decline and fall centered mostly around corrupt government officials. Corrupt officials would not pay taxes which upset the peasants and in turn caused political unrest among the Chinese people. Similarly, Roman emperor Caligula didn’t care about the well-being of the Roman Empire and instead preferred spending his time partying and having orgies which bankrupted Rome and led to a raise in taxes. As a result of raised taxes political unrest began to spread throughout Rome.
Amadou Hampaté Bâ is extremely detailed throughout the book, The Fortunes of Wangrin, in explaining the colonial world in West African societies. He provides multiple examples in this work of fiction that precisely describe the factual aspects of African colonialism that we have discussed in class. I will point out a few of the examples that Bâ uses such as: limitations colonial governments set on Africans, the Métis relationships within colonies, and issues that arose, not only between Europeans and Africans, but within the native African communities as well. I will then point out certain details from the book that do not perfectly reflect the components of colonialism that we have studied in lecture.
For a brief time in world history, China dominated maritime exploration. Even though quite unintentionally, a previous century’s invention of the magnetic compass played a pivotal and facilitating role and provided Chinese sailors a two-hundred-year head start over their European counterparts. However, it was not until blending those navigational advancements of the day, together with nautical technologies of shipbuilding architecture and propulsion found China readily thrust to the forefront. Emperor Yongle of the Ming Dynasty desired to leverage those technologies to construct an immense armada attesting to the court’s military prowess. Supported by a backdrop of politically favorable winds and a generous endowment, the Emperor commissioned the undertaking of explorations to an experienced Admiral named Zheng He.
Zheng He created cultural diffusion in China. Zheng He helped spread the advanced Chinese culture and civilization to the outside world. He traveled across the oceans to help people in other lands improve their lives through religion, road building and well digging, and brought about great cultural impact to areas. (Doc. A.) In conclusion, Zheng He died of disease in 1433 during his last voyage.
Eli Winker Dr Knickman SST150 9 February 2023 Comparing Classical Greece and Han China In the Classical Age, the Han and Greek empires differed in many ways, most notably in their government ideas and the power of one individual in a government. The classical Greeks used democracy as their primary form of government and citizens all had a role in the government. The Han empire used a monarchy with an emperor at the head and everyone else in the empire had little to no power. Although the Classical Greeks and Chinese shared similar ideas about the role of women in society, their ideas about government and the role of an individual in government were more different than similar because the Greeks believed in more of a democratic government rather
The Daodejing, similar to the Analects, was written during the Warring State period, a time when the Zhou kingdom disintegrated into a series of feudal states fighting for power—a time of fragmentation and chaos. The Daodejing was written for Daoist, educated men, and people interested in Daoist teachings. The Daodejing was written to inform people, therefore, it was written as if speaking to a student. Laozi, the author of the Daodejing, although has no proof of existence, is believed to be a keeper of archives in the royal court and a teacher who travelled around China. The purpose of the Daodejing is to articulate Laozi’s ideas on Daosim and inform people about his philosophy.

Will foreign investors be interested in investing in this company? Even though PRC’s central government guaranteed a rate of return of 15% on equity financed net fixed assets (White 1998) to HPI, and certain other companies operating in the power sector, the potential risk of political changes in the future (and with that the possible loss of said guarantee) could not be fully eliminated. Thus, it was the right time for HPI to look for alternatives, especially because different PRC firms had successfully been raising equity (White,
However, before he unified China, he faced a challenge while becoming king of the state of Qin. When he finally came of age and was able to become king, he faced a coup from his father’s chancellor and his mother as well as others (“Shi Huangdi Becomes Emperor”). If he had not been able to overcome this challenge, the whole history of China could have turned out completely differently. Of course, once he became king, he faced the challenge of actually unifying the six endlessly warring states. With Li Si as his adviser, Qin was able to conquer the other kingdoms between 230 B.C. and 221 B.C. and was able to unify China into one country, becoming the first emperor (“Qin Shi Huang-Di”).
