Lately everyone around me has been using the term “YOLO”-you only live once, a lot. At first I didn’t take this very seriously but now I have really thought about the meaning and I wanted to share my thoughts on this with you.
You only live once. Simple but true. From the very second you are born; you are stepping towards your end. You will never get any time back. We often worry about things that we can’t change or that don’t matter. The type of worrying we do about something in the future. We can’t change the past but we can change the future! If something worth stressing over is really worrying you, the power to change it. The Change has to come from you. You can change your future. Your actions and decisions determine that.
I have realized

From the day we are born till the day we die, there is always something missing always something we are running after, always something that we seek, want, need and desire. And we meet obstacles upon obstacles on our journey to be happy and satisfied. Life is a journey filled with lessons, hardships, heartaches, joys, celebrations and special moments that will ultimately lead us to our destination, our purpose in life. The road will not always be smooth; in fact, throughout our travels, we will encounter many challenges.
I always pray- Forgive, O Lord, my little jokes on you, and I'll forgive you for the big ones on me. I have a simple philosophy: Fill what's empty. Scratch where it itches. I believe- living life is like licking honey off a thorn. One should not think of retiring from the world until the world will be sorry that you are going to retire. The world owes you nothing. It was here first. In life all of us have an unspeakable secret, an irreversible regret, an unreachable dream and an unforgettable love. To succeed in life, you need three things: a wishbone, a backbone and a funny bone.
Every day we are engaged in miracles which we don't even recognize, a blue sky, white clouds, green leaves, and the black curious eyes of a child - our own two eyes- all are miracles. When you are busy, stressed or otherwise distracted - do not forget to live. Do not forget to make sure that you have for yourself- time to enjoy
Amari experienced a lot of change throughout her journey in slavery. She became more confident and had more hope in herself. Also Afi, a former slave she befriended on the Middle Passage taught Amari to have hope and to not give up. In the book, Copper Sun, the author shows plenty examples of having hope in impossible situations. Amari was a strong girl who showed she had hope throughout the entire book, even in the toughest situations.
Life can really suck sometimes. It can give us the illusion that everything is going to go smoothly as planned, but then it surprises us with tragedy or rough, unexpected circumstances. It is during these times that we just don’t know what to do and feel hopeless. But hope is always there. Sometimes it’s obvious, and sometimes it seems impossible to find, but there is always hope for any situation or circumstance.
Personal Statement A human being has one life and one life only. The older I get the more I realize how precious my time is. An old friend of mine a mechanical engineer who has lived through the prime of his life reflected back on some marvelous experiences he had as a child where his parent would take him every week to watch the trains go by.
So the next time you wonder about the future, think about your past and you may be
H. L. Mencken wrote “the average man does not want to be free. He simply wants to be safe.” I agree with this quote because of the deeper meaning it has behind it. In today’s society, people do not seem to have ambitions or dreams that they want to pursue. A lot of people settle with a job that pays just enough to make a living or they do not go beyond their limits to get a higher education to be able to make more money.
You have to make the best of what you have right now by doing everything to the best of your abilities; Living life with no
Failures and successes in life have led many people to believe that destiny plays a role in one's future life outcome. Some say destiny, the “hidden power believed to control what will happen in the future”, is unchangeable; fate has already decided how one will live their life. Although in some cases this may be true, one is able to change their destiny by the deeds and actions they commit during their lifetime. Many people disregard the idea that actions play a large role in forming one's future.
At first, Poh-Poh was the closest family member for Sekky, who really loved him and cared about him but her death pushed Sekky into a shadow. On this occasion, “Chinatown people turned away, muttering behind my back. Poor Sek-Lung... spent all his seven years with Poh-Poh... he can’t get over it” (Choy 172). According to the others’ words, Sekky was too close with Poh-Poh that he could not fit into the life without her.
An individual should live his or her life to the broadest and celebrate each time in life before their
Jobs, Steve. " Steve Jobs's 2005 Stanford Commencement Address.” I agree with this because what Steve is saying is true, death is all of our final destination for everyone and no one has escaped it. So we must all take chances in life and hope for the best and not worry about the “cons” in life and focus more on the
Hence, a person should live day by day because any day might be their last. When a person is older, they want to look back on what they accomplished and not on what they could have accomplished. People do not want to look back to the past and regret that they did not take the time to pursue an opportunity. They want to look back on the things they did and be proud to tell about the things they achieved. One should spend their day living, at all times.
Time is one of the most basic elements of life: Humans live in the present, dwell in the past, and fear the future. Life is just a constant and consistent march towards the end, an end that is forever unknown. Time, though, for all it dictates, is nothing more than a human construct. The idea that everything exists in a neat line and that all events happen from start to finish is nothing more than a common figment of imagination. One may argue that this linear idea is the foundational problem with humanity.
I realize that every other day is similar, not the same. I noticed when you’re living in the moment your future becomes a gift; we call this the present. We may plan everything we will like to have; but like a Christmas list nothing is promised, some may call this fouls hope others such as myself will call this life. I know I could change my future; do something meaningful with my life.
Most transformative moments in life can be caused by the smallest of occurrences in life. Often people do not even realize that a pivotal moment in their life is happening. Someone may realize when they are mature enough that there was one special moment during their childhood that ultimately determined their lifelong goal. For others, they probably realized an “aha” moment right when it happened and from then on decided that they knew what they want to accomplish later on. I actually have taken from both sides of the spectrum from realizing that one special transformative moment but also not even knowing that it would end up steering me towards my current career choice.
In our life, there are periods of challenges that we must face, but the real challenge is how we grow and learn from overcoming them. Being naive children, we believed that life was simplistic and effortless. Well, we were wrong, we can only yearn for life to be easy. Growing up, we continue to face countless hurdles that only get bigger and bigger. My life, in particular, has been filled with numerous up and downs.
