When we first walked in, you could hear my mother shriek after she spotted a cockroach near the fireplace. I couldn’t sleep from the constant feeling that bugs were crawling on me. About halfway into the trip, my family and I were eating dinner at California Dreaming when we received a phone call from our neighbor informing us of a large storm that was present back home. “It sounds like someone is ripping off my garage door,” our neighbor, Sharee Wagoner, explained. We continued eating without worry until Sharee called us a second time telling us that her next door neighbor’s trampoline was in her pool.

This essay will be discussing the various discourses that have been introduced in the given text ‘Smuggled Bushmeat is Ebola’s Back Door to America’, regarding the phenomenal Ebola outbreak that took over the media not only in Africa but internationally. Ebola virus disease or Ebola haemorrhagic fever is an illness that was carried by fruit bats then transferred to human beings. The disease can only be transferred from person to person through skin contact and release of body fluids. The disease was first discovered and originated from Central Africa in 1976, effecting many African people from central Africa then soon enough spreading across to the West of Africa as we know today. In 2014, the Ebola outbreak had mainly effected the West Africans,
Throughout the majority of the play, Walter wants to change the way they live and constantly tries convincing his mother to use the insurance money to start a liquor store. I chose this excerpt because I thought it was interesting how Hansberry chose to use Walter having the same breakfast as him trying to express there not being change around the apartment. This connects to the U.S history packet when it talked about the African Americans headed off to war and being treated better out there than back at home, and then when they got home they wanted home. Near the end of the play on page 148 when Walter has to decide if the family keeps the house or receives the money he says this to Lindner: Walter. And we have decided to move into our house because my father- my father- he earned it for us brick by brick.
In the midst of the pain, I found myself closer to my Oak Cliff community because they understood our struggle, as their very own struggle. Along with solidarity that came with just one look, our neighbors would knock at my door and bring us Pozole or Tamales anything they had cooked and we returned the favor vice versa, sending Gorditas or Enchiladas. Dancing in the parking lot, made it seem that we didn’t have any worries but as soon as the mailman brought the bills the smiles would be hidden till the next weekend when cumbias would blast. In one of these “nightly meetings”, I realized people in my “barrio” were full of life even if their bank accounts were mutually dead. Through the darkness, mi “gente” taught me that the torch must be passed along to keep the flame burning bright.
"Tomorrow is going to be a great day" everybody thought. We all went to bed wondering how it's gunna turn out. The day of Thanksgiving Everybody got up still wondering how it was going to be. Everybody was coming at 12:00, because we were gunna start eating dinner at 3. As we were getting ready, cleaning the house, cooking the food, it turned 12:00 and we heard a knock on our door.
I woke up one very good morning , at 6:00 in the morning , looking outside of my window seeing the sun almost touching the treetops about to come up to start the day. I finally hop out of bed and get up to go get ready . Once I got ready , I smelled the sensational smell , of dough , cinnamon , brown sugar , and that’s when i burst into the kitchen and saw my dad had made Cinnamon rolls ! I felt so excited I couldn’t contain myself i felt as if you walked out of school on a friday. So I ran to the white , wooden table and waited patiently.
My Aunt Karen works there, and she had talked to one of her friends so that we could go behind the scenes and feed the giraffes. My dad drove us to New Orleans in our van. It seemed like it took forever to get there. Being seven years old, riding in a car for an hour takes a long time. When we finally got to the zoo, we met my Aunt Karen at a special gate, and she swiped a card to let us in.
Although, this was 2 years ago and now every time we go fishing I catch at least 2 to 3 fish. I went to Tennessee last summer (that’s where I’m from) and me and my friend went fishing and I beat him 7 fish and he had 0 and he got mad and threw his pole in the water and got a hook stuck in the back of his head. We immediately called his parents and took him to an Urgent Care Clinic, and it just so happens that the one we went to my mom worked at so I stayed with her in her office. My friend said he wanted me in the room with him because he was scared. After we were done there we went back to fishing and again he didn’t catch a fish neither did I but we had a fun time.
The day of Halloween 3 years ago was really crazy with my best friend Alexander Zimny. I was at home eating ham and watching the 100. as I was eating I remembered it was the day I was going to AIex Zimneys house i was supposed to go there at five, but at four thirty I begged my mom to let me go early, but like the mean boar she always is, she said, no so I went up to my room cried a little bit and took a nap. It felt like eternity before I set off on foot to meet Alex at the nature center, which is a small wooded area of the elementary school that has paths through it. I got there and I didn 't see Alex right away, but I spotted him moving around in the bushes hiding from me. I went over to him and asked him why he was in the bush?
