Uncovering the Mystery of the Zodiac Killer

The infamous and curious American serial killer also named The Zodiac Killer was known for his brutal murders in northern California between 1968 and 1969. In the late 1960s, San Francisco was struck by the infamous Zodiac Killer, who went on a brutal murder spree that shocked the entire city. The Zodiac Killer, who is known for at least five confirmed murders, insulted the public and the police with complex letters to the local newspaper, which increased the sense of anxiety and mystery related to his horrific acts. Many people are familiar with serial killers like Ted Bundy and Jeffery Dahmer because of recent exposure in the media through streaming apps like Netflix. However, the one my research paper describes is one commonly unknown. He goes by the Golden State Killer. Throughout his killing spree, he lived in different locations of California, but undercover as what people trust the most. Research shows the peaceful life he had with his family during the day and the gruesome monster he evolved into at night.
The Zodiac Killer The Zodiac Killer was one the most dominant serial killers of the 20th century. Starting his career in 1966, the Zodiac Killer killed an innocent teenage girl on her way home from college. A surplus of letters were shortly received from the mysterious “Zodiac Killer”, claiming that “she needed to die” (Newton 321). Following, were the murders of three teenage couples and a cab driver.
The Zodiac was once a mixed psychopathic serial killer. He tormented the San Francisco Bay area through several random violent killings in the 1960's and 70's while never been caught either. The Zodiac killer also taunted the police force, with cryptograms and phone calls informing them of recent killings. The police have investigated and interviewed thousands of suspects. The police still get many tips every year about the true identity of the Zodiac killer.
The Notorious Zodiac Killer is quite the mystery. Northern California was where he felt comfortable to murder. He has never revealed to whom he was exactly. However, he was quite big on committing crimes and pleading guilty to them. His killings began in the sixties.
The Zodiac Killer was a famous serial killer. The difference between the Zodiac killer and other serial killers was that he would taunt the police publicly by writing letters to numerous local newspapers. Police link him to at least five murders between 1968 and 1969, and possibly more. The zodiac killer had no specific M.O which made it difficult for law enforcement to narrow down a suspect. To this day, police and investigators have never arrested the suspect whom he named himself the Zodiac Killer.
The Zodiac Killer had impacted the nation with these violent killings of five or more people in the year of 1969 resulting in the ongoing investigation of his identity. The Zodiac Killer brutally murder at least five people in 1969. His first killing took place on a road just outside of Benicia December 20th, 1969.The victims were David Arthur Faraday, age 17 and Betty Lou Jensen, age 16 both stabbed to death (Everything You Want To Know About The Zodiac Killer But Were Too Afraid To Google). Six months later, near Blue Rock Springs he shined a flashlight into the vehicle of Darlene Ferrin and Michael Mageau. Darlene was shot and killed while Michael survived despite his extensive wounds.
“If the Blue meanies are going to get me they’d better get off their butts and do something” (Zodiac Killer). The Zodiac Killer, Who has remained unidentified is believed to have murdered six people. Later on, people come to the conclusion that those six victims were not the only ones. The crimes were committed primarily in northern California between 1966 and 1969. The Zodiac’s murders were the subject of a big investigation.
The serial killer I chose is Albert Fish. Hamilton “Albert” Fish was born on May 19, 1870 in Washington D.C. to Randall and Ellen Fish. His father died of a heart attack when Albert was five. After, his mother put him and his three siblings in an orphanage so she could work. While living in the orphanage Fish experienced and watched brutal beatings, which soon helped him discover he enjoyed physical pain and began his obsession with sadomasochism.

Ted Bundy the Killer One of the most famous serial killers of the 20th century is Ted Bundy. In the 1970’s Ted Bundy was a serial killer and rapist that would kidnap young women and overpower them. Ted Bundy would approach his female victims in a public place and then lead them into a private area, where he had already screened before, he would then rape and murder his victim. The estimated number of women Ted Bundy has murder is about 30 in seven states between 1974 and 1978. Ted Bundy kept 12 of his victim heads in his apartment as his trophies.
The Zodiac killer is an unsolved murder case from 1968-1974. As you know, most killers are quiet about their murders but, “Zodiac” (as he dubbed himself) was quite the opposite. He terrorized San Francisco with is murder spree, teasing the police with his coded messages. (see image 1) One message was deciphered by the news, quoted “I hope you are having lots of fun in trying to catch me.
