The radio program I chose was Mother-in-Law Murder. The background music was very loud and distracting, making it hard to get into the feel of the program at first. There were issues with the audio stream that made it difficult to listen and lead me to find another way to hear the program. Lots of strange sounds in between scenes made me more conscious of reality and prevented me from fully submerging myself into the program. I was listening alone but had to deal with people coming in and talking

people justice. For example Mother Jones and Cesar Chavez both fought for fairness. Therefore if we didn’t have people like Mother Jones and Cesar Chavez we would probably be working on a dry field with a hot climate or a factory with meager wages, but which of these made a bigger difference? “Mother Jones” an informational text by Judith Pinkerton Josephson is about an old woman, Mother Jones, who marched to the White House to convince President Roosevelt to pass tougher laws against child labor or getting
This quote can be traced back to her account, in which she presents before the National American Suffrage Association in Philadelphia in 1905. In it, she vividly depicts the horrors of child labor, providing countless reports, varying child labor laws throughout the states and ultimately, a solution to the dilemma. THERE ARE THREE KINDS OF ACTIVITY: Representing Preparing and Drafting Providing In many states it is a crime to practice law illegally. It is not a crime to represent self, but you risk going to jail if you practice law on someone else. So... ANYONE WHO PRACTICES THE LAW WITHOUT KNOWING THE LAW IS BREAKING THE LAW. For example, in Ivory Coast, President Houphouët was instrumental in passing the 1964 Civil Code, which created statewide laws pertaining to marriage, property, divorce, paternity, and inheritance. A long-time French collaborator, Houphouët’s interest in “improving the status of wives/mothers was motivated by western notions of gender and by economic concerns. He declared monogamy the only legal form of marriage because he thought that a stronger emphasis on the conjugal unit would weaken kinship

But under Shia law it is applied to decide the quantum of the share of any given person, under Sunni law it is not applied at all. Under Sunni law a daughter's daughter as an uterine relation has no place in the inheritance until all the heirs and residuaries are exhausted but under Shia law she would inherit the share of her mother.^^ When the children of a son coexist with the children of a daughter, the

I think of law as a system we came up with in order to be able to coexist. We tend to believe that laws are incapable of erring but what happens then when these laws endanger everything you believe in. That’s why I think that sometimes is appropriate to disobey them. Civil disobedience is the active, professed refusal to obey certain laws, demands, and commands of a government as a result of moral objections, especially through passive resistance. One case in which civil disobedience would be justified
having an international surrogacy arrangement. According to the ART BILL, 2008, in the event of the death of the intended parents, the surrogacy arrangement should provide financial support for the child, as well as life insurance for the surrogate mother if something goes wrong. The birth certificate should only contain the names of intended parents and at least one of the intended parents should be a donor to reduce the risk of abandonment of the child. However, Indian surrogates were exploited,
Although Mother to Son by Langston Hughes and We Real Cool by Gwendolyn Brooks take two opposing views on life, they effectively explain the importance of living life lawfully, ethically, and dedicatedly. The first poem illustrates what happens when caution is used, while the other warns against what happens when it is not used. Lawful living is an integral part of these poems' themes. Petty crimes lead to loss of morality, as in We Real Cool. Without a sense of morality, there is no low to the depths

With the success of his military and expansions, he needed a way to successfully rule over all of it his territory. Hammurabi used his code of laws to rule over his kingdom, and he also used it to “unify the various groups he controlled” (Hammurabi’s Code: An Eye For An Eye). Howard Hawk’s Scarface is the epitome of a great gangster film; it has all of the characteristics that are typical of 1930’s gangster films. The protagonist, Tony Camonte, is an Italian-born gangster seen as an outsider in America. He so desperately wants to fit into American society he will utilize violence by any means necessary. As the movie progresses, it becomes abundantly clear that the PCA left it’s mark on the film and it’s characters. The foreword of Scarface alone is the work of the

In the year of 1989, a mother came to the supreme court for assistance. Her son, 4-year-old Joshua DeShaney, was returned to his father by the Department of Social Services, even though the father committed domestic violence. One day, Joshua was hospitalized for severe brain damage and bruises all over his body caused by his father. The mother immediately sued the Department of Social Services for returning Joshua to his father. The Supreme Court should have protected my client by the constitution's

The biography “Mother Jones: Fierce Fighter for Workers’ Rights” by Judith Pinkerton Josephson is about Mother Jones’ fight
study of Law is much different than that of a typical Pre-Law student. I had to fight to find the connection that led me towards considering a legal career. It wasn’t until recently that I started listing “passionate” as a skill set on my resume. I always aim to act ethically and think morally, but when I was exploring the variety of jobs available to me I became unsure of which career I could apply my core values to. Throughout my life I have always been the midpoint of legal conflict. My mother was
you deprive them of that choice, then you expect them to fight for these rights.” – Queen Rania Al Abdullah of Jordan. The missions of all of these activists is summed up in this. All of them are strong women who fought for what they believed in: Mother Jones fought for children’s working rights; Harriet Tubman fought for African Americans and racial equality; and Kimberly Bryant is fighting to help get more African American girls into the IT industry. These three individuals all enacted change by
