form of poetry, and that haikus were more or less masculine. Amy Lowell is able to combine these two while keeping their original forms in tact. She created a new form of a lesbian-feminist haiku. An example of this is her piece Sword Blades and Poppy Seeds. This piece details Lowell’s interaction with Ada Russell, and how she felt about her in an emotional way. Transgender cultures exist around the world. However many forms of transgendered cultures disappeared because of the Christian teachings. In Indian society, the institutionalized third gender is called Hijra and is noticeably different from the Western concept of transgender. Hijras are men who dress and act like women. They do not consider themselves to be men or women, but a sub-cast. Hijras in India are known because of their performing role in religious ceremonies at weddings and for new-born

Having the opportunity to research the history, science, and uses of skullcap, I now have a greater understanding of its' significance. A relative of the mint family, skullcap is a smaller plant that ranges in height from one to four feet. The botanical name is lateriflora, meaning flowers only grow on one side of the stem. Depending on the season, flowers bud with colors varying from a white-blue to purple-pink. The petals of the flowers have a shape similar to that of medieval helmets, giving thus
1.3. Propolis 1.3.1. Propolis is collected by bees from leaf buds and bark. The word propolis was probably coined by Aristotle from the Greek words "pro," meaning "in front of" and "polis," meaning "city." Michael Pollan’s book tells the story between the relationship of Man vs Nature, and the connection it has with life on Earth. He mentions his objective for his book: to view plants in an intimate relationship with humans by looking at ourselves differently. The book makes an adventure through history to forms of life now, and examines plants through multiple points of views. The Botany of Desire demonstrates a unique comparison of the terms “Botany” and “Desire” through his four chapters:apple, tulip
The plant used in this lab was Phaseolus vulgaris, or the common bean. This plant does C3 photosynthesis. First, my partner and I got two pots with a bean plant in each. In order to get the most accurate and relevant results when compared to one another, the bean plants were relatively the same size. The plants beforehand each had two larger leaves, three smaller leaves, and three leaves in bud form. The veins were lighter green while the leaves were darker green, and the leaves were smooth and tear-dropped
that is infertile or acidic. When selecting a site, do pH tests on the soil. The pH should be above 6.5. If your soil is too acidic and you cannot afford to fertilize your alfalfa a lot, then do not plant alfalfa. Make sure that you prepare a good seed bag. If a seedbag is not smooth and free of large clods, then it is not good enough. A drill must be used to plant the alfalfa. Do not use a till. Once the alfalfa is planted make sure you check on it at least weekly. There are many insects and animals

affected the germination of seeds. My group’s original hypothesis was that the seeds with the highest concentration of “Miracle Gro” would grow the most compared to the other seeds. However, after 8 days, the results were the exact opposite; the seeds that got 0% of “Miracle Gro” turned out to be the healthiest and tallest. By the third day, all five seeds, for the water solution, where sprouting. On the other hand, the solution with 4% “Miracle Gro” only had 3 seeds starting to sprout. In addition
They' are definitely not the apple of my eye. Baked in hot pies from grandma's kitchen. Bobbed from a tub on Halloween. A crisp fall snack. Some may say it is the All-American fruit. maples, but only develops one seed per pair of Samara. Towards the beginning of the trees lifespan the bark is smooth and gray, but as the tree ages the bark shags and thin strips begin to peel on the ends. With its leaf veins, embryo with two cotyledons and broad leaves the Silver Maple is well considered a dicot.
Beans do not like to be over watered, so this explains the 20 mL group not sprouting. My results can be explained by the amount of water they were given and the viability of the seeds. Not all seeds germinate no matter what you do, my average viability rate was about 50 - 60 percent. I think that the reason for 50 % of my seeds sprouting is due to the water that they were given.
