Rachel Caroline Eaton was born near Maysville, Arkansas. She graduated from the Cherokee Female Seminary in 1887 and became a teacher in the Cherokee Nation public school system after getting her BA in 1895 from Drury College. She was also elected superintendent of the Rogers County, OK, school district in 1920. In 1936, she was elected to the Oklahoma Memorial Association’s “Hall of Fame” as an outstanding Oklahoma woman.
