The environment of Ancient Egypt was a vital part of the Egyptian lifestyle, an endlessly rich abundance of natural resources derived from the landscape, the adverse effects of the climate, and Agriculturally bountiful occasions, were good for improving the quality of life, creating effective ecosystems and advancing Egypt as a civilization.

The way in which Ancient Egypt’s structure was laid out had much to do with the location of natural resources, for example, a lot of hunter-gatherers would make little homes next to rivers such as the Nile because it would be able to provide resources. Some examples of uses for a specific river known as the Nile River are Fresh water for bathing and drinking, effective transportation Method, trade benefits, mud and clay used to create buildings. The benefits were especially at their peak after flooding, which nobody at the time could understand why happened. (Life Along Ancient Egypt Pg 6-10). These Natural resources provided Egypt and it’s people a substantial amount of ways for maintaining a good quality of life regarding maintaining good agricultural bounty which is also used for consumption.

The hot and dry climate of Egypt made for negative effects in terms of growing crops so Egypt was divided into sections and the section for growing crops was called the black lands. The black lands were an area where more rain occurred, which is what Egypt needed for sustaining their ecosystem. The water from the Nile would make it possible to grow crops for consumption. The climate of Egypt, although perhaps not optimal, played a big part in sustaining life. Document E states, “ Hail to you, oh Nile, spring from the ground, come to keep the land alive...” The hymn is stating that the Nile River brings life to the area; the grass, trees, and crops. The Nile helped the crops get water through the process of irrigation. Based off of prior knowledge, the Nile can give the Egyptians diseases and prevent them.
This is why many cities were placed near the Nile delta, as seen in document B. The Egyptians were also protected through the West and East deserts, protecting the east and west, the Mediterranean sea, protecting the North, and the cataracts or rapids along the river, protecting the south, all shown in document B. These natural obstacles are hard to cross if an invader were to attack, leaving Egypt away from harm. Finally, the river is a “superhighway” for the Egyptians. Every city in ancient Egypt is placed near the river which allowed trade among the cities. As a result, Egypt can grow its economy and cities for a stronger kingdom. The Nile river originates in from lakes in Ethiopia and Kenya and ends in the Mediterranean Sea after flowing through Egypt. I think the Nile River shaped the Egyptians because, well there are many reasons. First of all, The Nile river made their rich for farming. The Egyptians called the Nile River the black land meaning, these soils are rich with nutrients for farming.
In ancient Egypt the Nile was a life or death resource because it gave water for drinking, was depicted to surround the ancient Egyptian heaven, and also controlled the growing season. The Nile as a resource helped create a thriving agricultural system. Along with the plentiful crops was the sand that went everywhere causing diseases and dental issues. The Nile River with fertile soil, and a major resource helped make the Egyptian civilizations that occurred long ago to thrive to their best ability. The Nile River shaped ancient Egypt by organizing the settlement distribution, developing the economy and changing their spiritual life.
Throughout all of the years that Ancient Egypt had existed, the question still remains, how did the Nile sculpt Ancient Egypt? The Nile River shaped ancient Egypt in several areas of Egyptian life. Three of these areas were city location, religion, and farming. One area shaped by the Nile was city location. City and base location is everything when finding a home, it must have the right temperature, resources, and geography to accommodate for certain needs.
This got me thinking, how did the Nile River shape Ancient Egypt? There were three ways the Nile shaped Ancient Egypt. They were the seasons, the geography, and their civilization. The seasons in Egypt played an important role for crops. This is for the fact that if the Egyptians didn't have food, they would die.
The land along the Nile and delta was arable and very good for farming, while the rest of the land was dry like a desert. (Document 2-1) So, the land near the Nile became the perfect environment for a civilization to commence. Although the Nile floods provided silt, allowing crops to grow, the floods also destroyed villages and killed many people. Despite this, so much success was found in Egypt because of Nile River.

Ancient Egypt was one of the most dominant civilizations in it’s time. As a whole, Egypt’s population had some of the most diverse jobs. Specialized trade was quite crucial to the advancement in Egypt’s reign. Power was one of the key factors to a successful civilization, during it’s time, Egypt was the most advanced group of people.
