The time before the Renaissance was a time of darkness. During the middle ages there was nothing but disease and religion, which why it is known as the dark ages. The Middle Ages took place 500 CE to about 1350 and the primary players of Europe were the Catholic Church and the Pope. Reason why everyone was against each other and made everything confusing. But the Renaissance was the high peak of European history because that’s when art and literature started to evolve and then science started to finally come into the picture.

The first picture was named The Geocentric Universe of Ptolemy by Claudius Ptolemy in 100 CE. He was a astronomer who was living in Alexandria, Egypt that believed the Sun would rotate the Earth. His theory involved him with stating Geocentric which means “Earth-centered” .Later around 1500, Nicolaus Copernicus had the theory The Heliocentric Universe of Copernicus. Instead of the sun rotated the Earth it was the other way around, he called this Heliocentric which means “Sun-centered”. But this was only the beginning of science.
Document D starts to come out with a woodcut called “Zodiac Man” from a book by German astronomer Johann Regiomontanus during 1512, and a woodcut from anatomy book On the Makeup of the Human Body by Belgian physician Andreas Vesalius, 1543 (Doc D). The zodiac sign are the basses of the 12 constellations. It is believed that each sign of the Zodiac meant for a certain part of the body. 1. One of Madison’s proposals that was rejected, was the idea to give Congress the power to veto any state laws. This would have changed the government today because every state law would have to be sent to congress in order to be passed. This would delay the nations lawmaking ability and create a jam. There would be thousands of laws in Congress waiting to be approved and it would end up taking years for one law to be passed.
The Council of Trent was the turning point for the Catholic Church. The Church was able to change because when the church changed the Catholic people were more expanding towards other countries in overseas . However, there wasn’t too much of a change because all the people who belonged to the Catholic Church did not change the point of view of how they look upon God. Examples such as how the Bread and Wine will mean that God will stay with you and be with you on your side. Martin Luther was and is still an important person for the people in Italy and Germany.
Did the EU’s goal of shared peace between lots of different cultures and people work out? The European Union, also known as the EU is a supranational organization that consists of 28 different countries. The EU was made to bring together countries that were torn apart by the war and to create peace between those countries. The EU works toward shared goals and issues yet remain separate countries all the same. The benefits of being a member in the European Union does not outweigh the costs due to loss of sovereignty, social unrest and peace, economic issues, and cultural identity with the diversity of languages and cultures.
During the Middle Ages a Roman Astronomer named Ptolemy came up with the theory that all surrounding planets orbited around the Earth. Advancement in telescopes and technology helped Copernicus during the renaissance create a more logical and accurate theory which stated how the sun is in the middle of our universe and all planets orbited the sun. George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison and James Monroe were the first five presidents of the United States and the people who led America to success during a time of great conflict. These presidents helped shape America into what it is today. Without their problems during their presidencies and then solving them, no one knows where America would be. For example, why did President Madison go to war, in 1812, unlike all of the previous and future presidents. Thousands of years ago, people thought that the Earth was located in the center of the Universe. As Carl Sagan, the coauthor of The Geocentric View stated, “For them, the Earth did not move in the sky and it did not rotate on its axis. Rather, all the planets and stars rotated around the Earth. ”(Text 1 by BHP and Sagan). The Greek astronomer Ptolemy is one of these individuals.

The Renaissance was a big change in European society. It reintroduced classical culture and brought back their style of art and architecture. In addition, classical culture also established a new way of thinking; humanism. This unique style changed learning, art, science and politics for the better. Long before the Renaissance, government was based on feudalism, the idea of dividing society based on class.
Egyptian astronomer Ptolemy had the idea that everything revolved around the earth, which was the conclusion that the church believed in. Ptolemy’s theory was based on epicycles, which were a series of circles that a planet orbiting the earth would take. This model of the universe had several inconsistencies, that clashed with experimental observations at the time. When Nicholaus was looking over Ptolemy’s charts he placed the sun in the centre of the universe.
People thought that all the other planets and the sun revolved around the Earth. During the Renaissance, people figured out that this was in fact not the case. Earth and the other planets actually revolved around the sun. In the
Directly following the Middle Ages came a time we have come to call the Renaissance. This was a time of rebirth, renewal, regeneration, and rejuvenation throughout the world, especially in Western Europe, where expanding trade brought news goods and, with them, new light to culture. It was a time where humanistic and philosophical ideas could flourish and be explored. Rather than focusing on the afterlife, the focus shifted to this life, the here and now, tour worldly realities. The individual became more important and there was a huge focus on learning the Classics, such as the Iliad and Odyssey, to inspire the arts.
