Doris Gudino Professor Chounlamountry Political Science 1 27 July 2015 Pro-Choice Anyone? A woman has, undoubtedly, the freedom to procreate, but once a woman chooses to retreat from that freedom, a commotion arises. Abortion is a woman’s choice for many reasons. It’s her body, therefore, no one else can decide for said person. She may have family and or financial problems preventing her from being able to properly care for the child. Women are forced to hear both sides of the debate and feel the intensity of a decision. Abortion is the said woman’s private decision and should not be stopped by any law. Only the woman herself knows her body, so abortion is a choice based solely on her feelings. The court case of Roe vs Wade established that …show more content…
[They hope for “pro-lifers” to join pro-choice activists in preventing unwanted pregnancies.](Wolf, 1997). They feel that a common ground can be met to which these debates will no longer exist. They realize the other side’s arguments and understand some of the cruelty. They still believe in a woman’s choice but wish to prevent pregnancies all together and stop all of the arguments. Abortion has many sides, but a woman’s choice is what needs to be protected. It is her body and life. She shouldn’t deal with laws preventing her from living it. Her child needs to be able to grow up safely and wanted or else she can’t be happy conceiving it. There are court cases proving it is a woman’s private matter amongst her and her family. No one can decide for her. Works Cited Jost, Kenneth. "Abortion Debates." CQ Researcher 10 Sept. 2010: 725-48. Web. 27 July 2015. Jost, Kenneth. "Abortion Debates." Pro-Life vs Pro-Choice It seems that in today’s media there is a constant battle between the pro-life and pro-choice organizations, each of which have their own side and story to tell. “I Was Pro-Life Until I Became a Nurse” by Carrie Denny is an article written by woman who agreed with the Pro-Life movement until she attended nursing school. Denny’s nursing instructor one day shared with her an experience that left her believing she needed to reevaluate her beliefs and where she stood on the issue of abortion. I find Carrie Denny’s story about her transition of beliefs very heart-touching and I hope that her article can also help others realize what it means to be pro-choice.
There is no need to risk a woman’s health and livelihood by taking away her choice; only the mother-to-be can know her own situation thoroughly enough to make the best possible decision about her future. This is further supported by the nation’s judicial system during the Roe vs. Wade case in 1973 where Harry Blackmun stated that the “fundamental right of single women and married persons to choose whether or not to have children is protected by the Ninth Amendment, through the Fourteenth Amendment.” This court ruling made abortions decidedly legal in the United States, but many women are still being denied the right to terminate their pregnancies. When the ability to choose a safe and legal option is taken away, women that still seek an abortion
Abortion Regulations In today’s society a woman’s private choice has never been so public. In the United States, abortion was illegal for most of the 20th century; however, in the 1960s, when the women’s rights movement began to grow, abortion was argued, by feminists, as a women’s control of her body (“Abortion.”). Whose choice is it now? Is it the governments’, the politician’s, the president’s?
Often times recently people who believe in pro-life do not care about the child after they are born. Their lives are not cared for past birth. Pro-birth is a new term has been made for people who believe in the banning of abortion but not any of the legal aid to help the children and their families after the child is born. With the introduction of the term “pro-birth” pro-life’s meaning is slowly evolving. It is not only pro-life but “pro-woman, pro-adoption,
Abortion is not only a fluctuating concept in our society, but an ethical and emotional debate, as well. The image I have chosen presents concepts from a cultural and historical background, as well as presents an ethical, emotional, and logical appeal to the audience. The debate about abortion has simply been overblown and exhausted. The truth of the matter is, abortion is murder. Ending a life, whether innocent or guilty, is murder.
Before Roe v. wade the number of deaths from illegal abortions was around 5000 and in the 50s and 60s the number of illegal abortions ranged from 200,000 to 1.2 million per year. These illegal abortions pose major health risks to the life of the woman including damage to the bladder, intestines as well as rupturing of the uterus. The choice to become a mother must be given to the woman most importantly because it’s her body, her health, and she will be taking on a great responsibility. A woman’s choice to choose abortion should not be restricted by anyone; there are multiple reasons why abortion will be the more sensible decision for the female.
Killing Abortion Is Worse Than Killing a Fetus A woman walks through a crowd of hatred. People scream and jeer at her as she traipses past their signs, calling her a sinner, a murderer, and a monster. The protestors care little for the living, breathing woman- they only care about her fetus.
Presentation of the Research Question Abortion is the termination of a pregnancy, pre-birth by removing the fetus from the uterus. It is one of the most controversial issues in America today. Pro-life and pro-choice are the two sides to supporting the cause of abortion. Pro-life believe all abortion should be illegal no matter the case and pro-choice believe women should have the choice to choose whether she wants to end the pregnancy or not. Abortion should be illegal in the United States under all circumstances because it is immoral and while women should have a choice, the choice should be to have safe sex, not to end an innocent life (Karstadt).
Abortion has been a hot button issue in politics for as long as it has been around. For a long time, people have been divided into two groups, “Pro-Choice” and “Pro-Life”. The former of the two consists of those people who believe abortion is not wrong and should be legal to all women in the United States. Whereas the latter believe that abortion is an offensive act and should be illegal in this country. Each side brings their own points to the argument.
There are two sides to this debate in which individuals identify themselves as either “pro-choice” or “pro-life.” Supporters classify themselves as pro-choice, and argue “that choosing abortion is a right that should not be limited by governmental or

For the last couple of years, americans have been deeply polarized over the issue of abortion. They debate has been cast in terms of “ pro-life” views and “pro-choice” views. The legality of abortion was confirmed in 1973 when the United States Supreme Court struck down a Texas
Did you know that in 2008 there were 1.21 million abortions performed, according to the most recent survey? 1.21 abortions in a year averages to be 3,322 abortions every day. 3,322 abortions every day averages to be about 2 abortions every second. In 2008, there were 2 innocent babies getting their chance at life taken away each and every second of the day, for a whole entire year. This shows that we need to do a better job of taking care of and protecting life, from conception to natural death.
(Tanner) Pro-choice defenders also say that it is the woman 's right to choose to have the baby or not, forgetting the baby 's rights. The life of a human being begins at the moment of conception, and it is not the fetus´s fault if the mother wasn 't ready to have a baby or if the situation in which baby was conceived wasn 't ideal. For example, if the baby is conceived by rape, the baby should not pay the consequences of other people, he or she has not done anything wrong .”Compassion for the mothers is extremely important, but it is never
