Abortion legalization We can do whatever we want with our body, it is our property. What government can do about this is to suggest, not to suppress. However, more than 300,000 females around the world are carrying a rapist’s child, due to formidable pressure from the government’s authorities. Why should the government care about our body? We have our own decision to make, and this should not be demanded forcibly by anyone. Abortion is the only key to help victims from raping, and this must be legalised to set them free from a sense of mortification, accusation, and tribulation. The term rape is the crime typically committed by a man, of forcing another person to have sexual intercourse with the offender against their consent. The point …show more content…
Of course, giving up on children can be irresponsible, but where is the rapist’s responsibility in all of this? It is unfair for females to carry all the consequences. El Salvador has one of the highest rates of teenage pregnancy due to rape. After El Salvador 's government’s total ban on abortion, hundreds of pregnant females decided to commit suicide. Just because people criticise abortion without looking it from the victim’s perspective, it leads them to a tragic ending. Once again, unfairly, there are no responsibilities placed on rapists for their heinous …show more content…
For instance, there should be enough amounts of monetary support and education provided for the teenage victims. I bet some people in this place have experienced raising a child. Do you remember that time when you spend burden amount of money to buy powdered milk and diapers? Education is also another point that we have to consider seriously. In order to help victims to return to their ordinary life, even after they give birth, they need proper quality education provided by the government, so they will not have any problem adapting to society later on. Unless the law has the proper plan to support them, they should be ashamed of themselves about their interference to put any coercion to the victims to keep the
A woman may have several reasons for abortion, rape is one of the common reason. Why she should carry someone else burden? According to the Victims of Sexual Violence: Statistics, in the United States there are 321,500 victims (age 12 or older) of rape and sexual assault
In the case of rape, an abortion would be morally tolerable, such that the fetus being formed does not one have the amount of rights as a fetus that was created from intended conception. (Thomson 5). When we are faced in the case such that a baby is to be born from rape, the baby is looked down upon in shame, as well as the mother. In the Christian religion, a baby conceived from rape, is a sin and is not God’s will. (Thistlethwaite 1).
The President of Planned Parenthood, Cecile Richards, speaks on behalf of these particular situations: “…federal funds pay for abortion services…when the woman has been raped, has been victim of incest or when her life is endangered” (Leonard). These victims have been placed into a situation that they had no control over. The least the government could do is to provide free abortions to rid the patients of their horrific remembrance. Many people might think that pregnancies are rather uncommon in sexual abuse, but “the [American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology] study reported a total of 32,101 cases of rape-related pregnancy over the course of the year (in the United States alone)” (Hamblin).
The woman who was raped and decide to give to give birth to that child often face negative effects. Living through that whole pregnancy can be a nightmare for many women. The whole pregnancy can feel like torture. Not being able to have an abortion in this case would leave the women constantly feeling the presence of her rapist. The women can also be traumatized by the whole experience she endured.
Due to the complex nature of abortion and the surrounding issues, many ethical issues have risen in reasonable to the legislation of abortion. Currently in England abortion is legal, however it is not freely given at the request of a women. In order for a women to gain permission for a abortion to go ahead the signatures of two doctors is required on the basis of restrictive legal criteria. However is other places around the world such as countries in South America, and North Africa, women are prevented from being able to access abortions legally and safely. Mary Ann Warren highlights the issues surrounding not allowing women to access abortions.
In the case of Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court ruled that multiple U.S. amendments give Americans the right to privacy. Although the case ruled abortion a right for women, many states still implement rules and regulations that make a professionally administered abortion very hard, if not nearly impossible to obtain (Abortion). I believe that abortion should be legalized and made readily available all over the world. The easy availability of professional abortions reduces the rate of maternal death (Abortion).
Andrew Solomon’s chapter on rape from his book, Far from the Tree: Parents, Children, and the Search for Identity, examined women who are raped and decide raise the children who were the product of this heinous violation. Solomon examines how rape has been perceived by different cultures over time and interviews various women who have first hand experience with rape in order to show the reader show the aftermath of this terrible crime committed against them. Initially, this student imagined rapists as outlaws who crawl out from the shadows to prey upon their victims, however, “80 percent of rapes are committed by someone the victim knows” (Solomon, 2012, p. 481). According to Solomon (2012), “more than half of rape victims in the United States
Many women get pregnant, not because they choose to. Mainly because they are not careful of the choices they make. However, some women don’t get pregnant because of that, they get pregnant by the cause of rape. It’s devastating knowing a women getting pregnant by force and the father not even being present for the kid. As we can count, loads of women in those kinds of situation, decide to keep the baby, but it also goes the same to abort the baby.
In the NY Times article “A Rapist’s Nightmare,” Nicholas Kristof notes the change of laws and life in Lucknow, India based on one young girl’s ability to stand up against her rapist. In northern India it was common for men to rape the girls, but that all changed when Bitiya a teenage girl fought back, and filed a case against her rapists endangering not only herself, but her family as well. “I want them in jail”, Bitiya says showing her determination to not only stand up for herself the other victims as well, she wants people to know that rape is a serious matter and you will be punished for it(Kristof 2). The rape suspects were eventually arrested, and even had to sell their land in order to make bail, people in this area are now realizing

Is daily sexism unrecognized in America? Many people may assure that gender inequality does not exist in America in 2015. Unlike some decades ago, nowadays women can vote, have access to education and job opportunities and even be part of the government. All that reasons may turn sexism into a non-clearly-visible phenomenon, unrecognized by a large proportion of society. However, none of those inaccurate, simplistic and superficial arguments imply that gender inequality does not exist.
If a minor is allowed an abortion for a pregnancy forced onto them by an abuser than the parents of the minor may never know that their child is being abused. This also gives the person another opportunity to take advantage of the young girl. “Between 11% and 20% of girls get pregnant as a direct result of rape” (CommunityCrisisCenter). Although the minor should have told their parents of the sexual abuse it is a hard topic to discuss and most people who are raped feel too ashamed or feel as if it is their fault so they do not report it. “70% of babies born to teenagers are fathered by adult men; only 30% are fathered by another teenager” (CommunityCrisisCenter).
Abortion should be legal and available to all women, a private matter, and without shame. As society progresses and the values of the masses change and evolve, there is less opposition to abortion, one of the safest medical procedures available. The backbone of the resistance to the Freedom of Choice grows desperate and often resorts to coercion and deceitful tactics to trick people into taking that freedom away, saying abortion goes against the bible, and that you will go to hell, and picketing or even blowing up abortion clinics in extreme cases. If you can look past the falsities put forth by religious groups, and become educated on the cold hard facts and statistics regarding abortion, you'll realize that forcing your opinion onto others regarding their personal
