The barbershop was so popular in 80s until 1940s where they called it the golden age. They would go for a haircut and shaving also to make friends. It also would be some of daily or weekly habit. During that year, barbershop was the constituted of classy places. According to Brett (2008), “Marble counters were lined with colourful glass-blown tonic bottles. The barber chairs were elaborately carved from oak and walnut, and fitted with fine leather upholstery. Everything from the shaving mugs to the advertising signs was rendered with an artistic flourish. The best shops even had crystal chandeliers hanging from fresco painted ceilings.” “Despite this level of luxury, barbershops were homey and inviting. A memorable and heavenly man aroma filled the air. The smell of cherry, wintergreen, apple, and butternut flavoured pipe and tobacco smoke mixed with the scent of hair tonics, pomades, oils, and neck powders. These aromas became ingrained in the wood and every cranny of the shop. The moment a man stepped inside, he was enveloped in the warm and welcoming familiarity. He was immediately able to relax, and as soon as the hot lather hit his face, his cares would simply melt away.” (Brett, 2008).

One way the cities are different is the size
It was an autumn morning- the crisp September breeze was rattling the newly bare tree limbs, leaves of crimson red, orange and golden tones covered the ground like a soft blanket, and the smell of freshly bailed hay roamed the little parking lot full of vendors. As I got out of my car to walk under the festive tents a lady who seemed quite important and knowledgeable about the Bridgeport Farmers Market walked by ringing a bell. People started traveling through the tents discussing with vendors and other shoppers about an array of things; like the weather or ‘this eggplant color is so rich’ or ‘the healing power of the cookbook.’ Quickly, the small little shopping center that was filled with vibrant colored fruits, vegetables, and flowers became extremely loud. Conversations and chatter were surrounding me as I began to enter the tiny outdoor supermarket.
The history of both cities has had profound impacts on the social and economic development
Jane and her mother walk into Dilliard’s. The entrance they walk in happens to be in the makeup and perfume department. When Jane smells all the different perfumes at one time, this overloads her processing system and she begins to shut down. However, Jane has been working with an occupational therapist and they have been using different strategies to help Jane stay calm during this process.

Some of the traits that helped Uncle Jed to reach his goal of opening his barber shop was perseverance and determination. Uncle Jed was very perseverant because in the story when it states “Mr. Ernest Walters, a friend of Uncle Jeds. He had come to tell Uncle Jed about the bank failing” then uncle Jed just stood there a long time before he said anything and said he would just have to start all over. When Uncle Jed stayed on track and said that he would just have to start all over that helped him a whole bunch because if he just quit then he never would have gotten his barbershop. The reason i think Uncle Jed was determined because in the story when it states “Uncle Jed kept going around to his customers cutting their hair, even though they couldn 't pay him”.
In the short story “Lather and Nothing Else,” by Hernando Tellez, the barber is faced with a difficult decision. The story begins with a barber working in his shop when when Captain Torres enters asking for a shave. The barber quickly became nervous at the sight of Torres, since he had slaughtered many of his allies. For the barber was a revolutionary and Torres happened to be on the side of the existing regime. However the Captain was not aware of the opposite beliefs of one another.
Those two cities were London and Paris. By the end of the 19th century, several cities had a population over a million people. Those cities included New York, Chicago, Philadelphia, Berlin, Tokyo, St. Petersburg, Moscow, Buenos Aires, and Osaka. In “Edison Newsreels: San Francisco Earthquake aftermath”, it showed big groups of people, overly crowed, on the streets of San Francisco. Cars were trying to weave through all these groups.
“Anything is possible when your man smells like Old Spice and not like a lady”. This is the slogan Old Spice strives to convey to their target audience. In today’s society, companies have become smarter with their advertisements. The marketing world has figured out how to make use of a multitude of rhetorical strategies and skills that effectively persuade their audience to purchase the product being advertised. Old Spice, a men’s beauty product, is notorious for producing commercial advertisements that are comedic in nature and that appeal to the emotions and desires of their audience.
With all the commercials on TV, one may wonder, “What should I buy to make me smell better?” There is one commercial that seems to reassure the readers of the smart approach to smelling better while pushing them to buy a body wash product they may or may not need. With all the surplus of grooming products out there, is this the one the viewer can trust? The latest “Old Spice” commercial has an original style on advertising its product that most people can’t ignore to watch. The commercial uses just about all of the rhetorical arguments effectively to convince the consumer to buy a product based on perceived need.
Walking into the bar the older man caught the hint of gunpowder, gun oil, and brimstone underneath the normal bar smells of sweat, beer, and smoke. Sure New York had banned smoking in most public establishments but this bar like many other dark dens didn’t seem to give a dam. “Oh hell, looks like we’re not the only ones here tonight.” He said indicating a booth where two men sat. One was wearing a dark green sweatshirt with the hood up over his head.
Each and every one of them received a hot meal. As Rufus bit into the delicious and spectacular food that tasted as heaven in a bowl his taste buds successfully lit up giving him a joyous feeling. He devoured the delicious food but he did so slowly as he was used to absolutely no food, this was a gift. The overwhelming and pleasant smell of home cooked food aggressively filled Rufus’s nose all night long. This was the first terrific sleep he had ever gotten and he cherished the comfortable, cozy bed he laid upon.
The noise the customers made was immense which reminded me how popular a place this is. I made my way to the coffee bar at the end of the shop made of reclaimed wood. A barista stood before me. He welcomed me with a charming smile. I got my cup of Americano and paid for it in the next counter.
