In “The Great Gatsby,” Baz Luhrmann shows a good representation of the themes Fitzgerald used in the book. It is easy to identify the themes of obsession, determination, and carelessness. He represents each theme through fairly obvious situations. Gatsby’s constant concern with everything Daisy does and the fact that he bases everything he does around her shows obsession. Baz shows Gatsby always being hopeful towards everything is determination, and the way the Daisy and Tom both act shows the theme of carelessness. From the beginning of the movie, all the way until the end, Gatsby is doing everything he does specifically for Daisy.
