Introduction
In Australia when ever attending a meeting an introduction is necessary. Australians prefer to communicate with everyone using first names, but always being with Mr./Mrs./Ms. Followed by surname unless you have been told to call them by their first names, this shows that you have respect for the person you are talking to as well as the others. When Australians greet they say G’day or G’day mate, which mean Hello, but may seem offensive to others so make sure you are familiar with terminology In Australia so you don’t just assume that something they say is offensive.1When physically greeting one another there are a few specific way that it is done, men give each other quick firm handshake due to the fact that if the hold hand which they are not allowed to they are considered to be gay, Women shake hand with men but if they are introducing

It’s always better to arrive or leave to a meeting a few minutes early so that way you can move smoothly through your meeting whereas if you were to be late for a meeting it takes up times and could cause mix-up and take up time.4 Apart from being punctual for meeting another very important thing Australians are pretty strict about are deadlines. Meeting deadlines are very important, if your company is assigned any work it is to be completed and to be given back on the assigned date. Handing in any type of paper work such as assignment or projects, paperwork, etc. late will show the Australian company the lack of professionalism and responsibility you have as a company and will only give a bad impression. Australians are very punctual when handing in all paperwork and any projects assigned and they expect you to be as punctual as they
In 2010, a poll taken from over 1000 people named Darryl Kerrigan of The Castle as the favourite Australian movie character with 23% of the votes (Hayes, 2010). The accolades kept flowing for the 1997 film, with over a third of those interviewed thinking The Castle best represents the real Australian culture (Hayes, 2010). These results raise an interesting question. How does a film taken in 11 days with a budget of half a million dollars capture the hearts of more Australians than a Hollywood blockbuster? What is it about Darryl and his family, and the story of the Kerrigans that Australians can relate to?
It is very dangerous to use cultural blindness and forget that different culture see different manners as acceptable. Every culture comes with different manners. While it is normal to have a stare eye contact, call people by their first name, be open and speaking up, etc. all of the above could be disrespectful in, as an example, Japan. Eye contact is in most Asian countries considered rude, calling someone by their first name is disrespectful, openness and speaking up is the opposite of the Japanese culture and goes against their believes.
Celebrating Australia day is like holding a party without inviting the hosts. While many Australians celebrate this holiday, they have little knowledge behind the events that occurred and why it is celebrated. If I’m honest, I haven’t been brought up, like many of my generation, to understand and acknowledge the events which occurred on this day. Instead for as long as I can remember I have seen the day as a public holiday where mum drags us to a boring family gathering, to play backyard cricket and observe the adults consume excessive amounts of alcoholic beverages. According to a poll conducted by Review Partners, much of the Australian population are unable to accurately name the event
Being on time is and always will be, an extremely vital aspect of military bearing and discipline. The slightest degree of hesitation or procrastination can possibly result in severely hindering mission capability and readiness, but also can without a doubt cost unnecessary loss of life even if you are only late by a few minutes. This is one of the big reasons why the military stresses being prompt with everything we do. It is why we have drills to disassemble our weapons and then put them back together. Being prompt does not mean to go unnecessarily fast as to cause the opposite of what is intended like breaking or losing something, or getting yourself or someone else hurt.
Persuasive Speech Ah Australia. The land of opportunity. The land of freedom and equality. The land of wealth and good health. The lucky country.
In Ben Robert-Smith’s opinion piece published in the Herald Sun on the 16th of January, 2017 “We Are One but We Are Many”, Robert- Smith addresses he Addresses the Australian public with the argument that is changing the date of Australia day from January 26th. He argues that the date should remain the same but should be undertaken in a manner that is “inclusive and respectful” of other Australian’s interpretation of the day. Comparatively, in Kevin V. Russell’s Letter to the Editor he presents the argument from an alternate perspective.
so why is this day so important. Australia Day. What’s the first word that comes to mind? Is it fun or Invasion day? What does that mean to you?
As the world grew more populated, to many Australians it seemed that Great Britain was both a physically long way and also very different to Australia. The Australia of pre World War II was now very different to the Australia colonised by the British so many years earlier. In 1919, Australia had, for the very first time, been considered a fully self-governing nation and was asked independently of Great Britain to be a part of the Treaty of Versailles (Carrodus, Delany and McArthur, 2012). Prior to this, Britain was responsible for all political agreements for Australia (Museum of Australian Democracy).
In general, a common rule is, “If you're not ten minutes early, you're late.” There are many easy things you can do if you want to improve your time management. If you know you need to be at work by 0700, setting your alarm, setting
Not only am I an example of my country but I am an example to those who come after me and I need to set a high standard for them to keep our military superior to those who come against us. Being punctual many times is the very first impression that you make when meeting someone for the first time. Not only does it make you look professional, trustworthy, and diligent but it is a good reflection on those who are in command above you. It is very important for each of us to maintain a superior level of
Integrity: Showing up and being on time is doing what is right if you need to cancel an appointment do the right thing and call ahead. Personal Courage: Is all of the above by doing the right thing at the right times and following by your word you are showing yourself to be loyal, respectful and all others building your courage to continue in that pattern. It is a waste of other people’s time and can result in consequences due to lack of planning and disorganization. That can cause bad character judgment on you making yourself untrustworthy. I understand everyone has obligations and may become very busy with work but it is important keep track of what you have already planned and try to plan around or call ahead and cancel if needed so your time is organized and managed in a appropriate manner.
If you will be late to work the same procedure should be followed. It is not mandatory that you explain the reason but you must inform them on when you will be returning back to work. Failure to report to work and on time without notifying the company is a serious matter and disciplinary action will be taken and could result in termination. • Dress Code Employees are required to follow the dress code for the company. Since our employees working conditions are so diverse we have adopted a casual dress code.
Even though you are in a new country still it's better to know them well and get along with them. As for me I was a quiet person who never talked to any person because I was shy. And being shy can make you lose a lot of opportunities like when i was in a class when a teacher asked a question and had the answer I couldn't raise my hand and answer it. And all the presentation I did with my partner I couldn't present it because I was nervous. Later on I adopted the american way of living.
In Mexican culture, the act of saying hello and goodbye at family functions is very important. If I were to disregard this entirely, this would be a sign of great disrespect toward towards my family members, especially those of the older generation. Basically, one uses disrespectful behavior with the knowledge that he or she is knowingly insulting
In Portugal, as a sign of greeting men and women kiss each other on the cheeks. Men shake hands. When the closer friends who are happy to see each other get together, they accompany vigorous handshake greeting by slapping each other on the shoulder or back. When people say goodbye to each other the same ritual is repeated, though a handshake and a pat on the shoulder can be less vigorous. Now we can see the tendency of spreading of these rules and traditions of the family and friendship over business establishment.
