Children were an important role, they were a much bigger portion of the united states population in 1860, than in the 21st century, with persons under age 19 making up nearly half of the population compared to 25% less than today. The Civil War was also known as the “The Boy’s War”. The Civil War was a battle of great importance to our history of the United States. On April 12th, 1861 this battle broke out between the Union States, North, and the Confederate States, such as the South. The Civil War took place all throughout the United states, and did not come to an end until the Union won the war on May 9, 1856. So, our question of “What caused the Civil War”, comes with three important answers. The three main causes of the Civil War between the North and the South were Economic, Social, and Political differences.

The two out four questions that I choose are to 1.) Discuss the causes of the civil war. Cite as many facts as possible to back up your analysis. And answer 2.) If the enduring vision of America is embodied in the Declaration of Independence's statements about equality and universal rights to justice, liberty, and self-fulfillment, how much progress toward those ideals had blacks and women made by 1877?
In November, 1863, he enlisted in the Confederate Army as a lieutenant colonel. He served under John B. Magruder and as a personal assistant or aide-de-camp to Jefferson Davis in August 1864. Lubbock was in-charge of troop transportation and bringing supplies for the Red River operations. Jefferson and Davis traveled to Richmond to help with the war west of the Mississippi. Lubbock was an expert on the trans-Mississippi department and was able to provide Davis with first-hand information on the attack.
Some of these young girls had to also work outside the house as babysitters to gather some money. The Penniless circumstances of the proletarian class had provoked the participation of children to
Many of the children would spy on and sometimes participate in the battles that were close to their towns. These battles were fascinating to them and many of them would remember their stories in a very nostalgic way. Because most of the battles of the Civil War were fought in the south, southern white children were forced to endure the battles that happened near their homes. Not only did they have to worry about getting shot or blown away by heavy artillery, hunger
The parents of these children would send them to work in hope to increase their families incomes. As a result of the new increase of child and women's labor the conditions for working
The American civil war led to the reunion of the South and the North. But, its consequences led the Republicans to take the lead of reconstructing what the war had destroyed especially in the South because it contained larger numbers of newly freed slaves. Just after the civil war, America entered into what was called as the reconstruction era. Reconstruction refers to when “the federal government established the terms on which rebellious Southern states would be integrated back into the Union” (Watts 246). As a further matter, it also meant “the process of helping the 4 million freed slaves after the civil war [to] make the transition to freedom” (DeFord and Schwarz 96).
The men protected the family and wandered the land to hunt and trade with other bands. The women mothered children, prepared food, and gathered resources as necessary. The children learned their roles in the household by helping with their respective work. Any children that were too young for work were taken care of by the grandparents whose wisdom was passed down generation to generation (Morse, Dan and Phyllis, 2009).
Also when he died, he died with the title of the patriotic leader of the Green Mnt. Boys. He was remembered for taking the British fort at Ticonderoga with Benedict Arnold on May 1775. The Battle fort at Ticonderoga was the first battle ever won by the americans, in the Revolutionary War. Then he moved to Vermont after the French and Indian War.
Throughout much of history, in time of war, the flag has always been one of the most important pieces of battlefield equipment. During the Civil War, the Confederate battle flag was extremely important in political and personal view standards. The Confederacy saw the use of three different national Civil War flags during its brief time as the official government of the South. The Confederate flag, represents a sacred emblem of this country's evolution through history. It symbolizes the birthright of a nation, the heritage of liberty purchased with blood and sorrow.
The Civil War allowed the United States to make the changes necessary to unify the country. In addition, it began one of the most transitional periods in the United States’ history. This period, the Reconstruction, brought about many political, social, and economic changes, which were both beneficial and disagreeable. The 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments, the Panic of 1873, and the formation of the Ku Klux Klan are just a few examples of heavily impacting events for the United States. During the Reconstruction period there were numerous political transformations in the country.
Many children began working before the age of 7, tending machines in spinning mills or hauling heavy loads. The factories were often damp, dark, and dirty. Some children worked underground,
Pearl Harbor is just one event that has shaped American history. With this being a topic of interest to many, authors like to use it as a setting for a fictional story. As a reader, it is important to remember that when reading historical fiction, some elements of the story will be truth while others will be made up. In the book A Boy at War it would seem that the author Harry Mazer was concerned about making a book book as well as it portraying history.
