I find so many of my good friends that have went off to college and came back with the freshman 15 problem. After a few years, you start to realize how and what had happened to your body. But some people just don’t learn for that. When you have so many options to pick for, for breakfast, lunch, and dinner it becomes a big problem. You’re only suppose to be eating about 1,500-2,000 calories a day. Some college students will eat alone 1,000 calories for breakfast. So colleges should have more healthier food plans and healthier food choices. A lot of freshman kids tend to go crazy when they get to college. The reason why I address that is because when your parents don’t let you party at home, you just wanna party the whole time you’re at college. It’s not all the parents fault, it’s some of the college’s fault. When people have parties every night at college, the university needs to fix that. Universities should have more activities every night on campus. I feel like more kids would participate in that then some people would thing. Working out at college is tough. When you’re paying for classes, you don’t really focus on working out. Colleges should give out free gym membership or if you have a gym class that should be free
Will, there are times that students’ have to report to the gym to orientations or presentation, maybe that’s why students pay. To the student that should be no reason for the fee to be forced up on the student to pay that $50 collar athletic
College, although it is an esteemed institution acknowledged for its cultivation of young minds, is an establishment notorious for the expansion of its students’ waistlines. The infamous “Freshman Fifteen” is a nightmare turned reality for thousands of incoming college students nationwide. Hoards of fledgling undergraduates struggle to maintain a healthy physique under the stresses of their hectic academic and social schedules. Late-night snacking during cramming sessions, deficient exercise regimens, and overconsumption of high-calorie dining hall foods are additional factors that attribute to students packing on the pounds. Although freshman weight gain is commonly widespread today, it is not absolutely inevitable.
Should College Allow Drinking in Campus? In April 2002 The National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism(NIAAA) published a report, updated in 2005, that suggests a strong relationship between alcohol and other drug abuse and variety of negative consequences of students who used alcohol and drug. The report estimates that each year 1,700 college students die from alcohol-related unintentional injuries, including motor vehicle crashes. In addition, it further estimates that alcohol is involved in 599,000 unintentional injuries, 696,000 assaults, and 79,000 cases of sexual assault and acquaintance rape among college students. According to a number of national surveys, about 40% of college and university students engage in heavy episodic
With no open campus kids wouldn't be late to class or use that as an excuse. There will be worrying kids could just skip class all together and for these reasons parents may be against an open campus. I don't agree. There'll always be worry. Kids should be able to eat with what they would like.
BryanHighNorseman.com states, that “ food is really expensive for the school. Allowing the students to eat at home or elsewhere would relieve a lot of the school’s
The only way a state college should be free to attend is through a scholarship. College is more of a privilege, therefore it should not be free nor easy to attend. College can tell the difference between slackers and hard workers. The common belief on the subject is that state colleges should not be free to attend.
This shift has prompted most adults to return to school and acquire more professional knowledge to adapt to the new changes. Non-traditional students are referred to as students exceeding the expected age of the average student and are usually of ages between 23 and 25 years upon enrolment. The average college students typically range between the ages of 19 to 20 years. However, despite the age differences, other factors distinguish the two types of students, including their different backgrounds, culture, and lifestyles. These different characteristics could affect how they interact in school and eventually the quality of their
College students go to school so they can pursue their careers in the future. This group of people are needed because without them, who is going to be the doctor, lawyer, journalist, or mechanic in
College should be free in the United States “Education should be a right, not a privilege. We need a revolution in the way that the United States funds higher education” (Senator Bernie Sanders). Colleges should be free for everyone in the United States because college education is very essential in our country. In Fact, all people deserve to attend free college because we need those brilliant brains that contribute the new ideas and new invention for the better future of this country. First, free college tuition would encourage more students to attend college and they would be able to pay more focus on graduation instead of always thinking about where to get money in order to be in next semester.
Parents play a big role in their child’s lives because they provide a sense of direction for them. It is natural for a child to look up to his/her mom or dad. If a young adult doesn’t have the help from their parents who have already experienced college then they are already behind the kids who are able to use their parents as a resource. A quote by Nijay Williams in the article says, “My mom stopped school in the ninth grade; my dad stopped in the fourth grade … It makes it harder for me, [and] most of the people I graduated with are not in college, but that’s what I see myself doing; I want to go to college.
According to David Leonhardt in his article titled “The Assault on Colleges - and the American Dreams,” the average college student isn’t fresh out of college “The typical college student is also not fresh out of high school. A quarter of undergraduates are older than 25, and about the same number are single parents. These students work
College students need to be fed with the right foods and nutrients. Imagine being hungry and having tons of homework to do or have to study for a major exam, it would be pretty hard. It would almost feel impossible to get focused and actually complete your homework assignment or finish studying for that test. You also won’t have a lot of energy because you’re body won’t have the right foods to help you maintain that positive energy. So many college students live off Ramen and honestly it’s not very good for you.
However, students are rarely encouraged by looming intellectual assessments; they are motivated by friends, parents, and other loved ones who want to see them triumph and succeed in life. In addition, teenagers rarely have long discussions with their parents. School is the stereotypical “safe” and “easy” topic of conversation at the dinner table yet, most kids reply with mundane answers. In
Somehow, parents can help students to explain what is their difference between of their situation in life. As Dr. Robert Nathanson says for the athletes “Student-athletes possess a host of personal characteristics, traits, and values that have helped them thrive athletically, including discipline, commitment, focus, high energy, work ethic, ability to handle pressure, and resilience ---- the list goes on and on. Yet, as students, they often don 't realize that these same attributes are transferable to the academic playing field”. On the other hand, Dr. Alan Goldberg wants to share to the parents of regular students “One thing we all want as children and never stop wanting is to be loved and accepted, and to have our parents feel good about what we do.
Parents have a lot of responsibilities in drilling to their kids the importance of education for their future. Taylor notes that “If children are do not understand how important school is, chances are they will not succeed when they are adults” (64). Parents need to remind their kids the motivation and discipline it takes to succeed in school. Also, parents need to always teach their children that school is a
