Why did Eric and Dylan follow through a shooting? Writer, Dave Cullen, writes Columbine as a detailed explanation of a tragic shooting fulfilled by classmates that tragically shook the school forever, underlining the motive of such a traumatic incident. Cullen emulates the shambled room after what was a normal library, when now it is not normal at all. He illustrates the tragic tone with descriptive imagery of the aftermath with the use of the devices such as repetition and parallelism with what used to be a High school but now a crime scene.

The SWAT team lead the way to the library and discover bodies most dead but a few alive. The author repeatedly includes “The SWAT team…” following multiple statements like “discovered the truth”, This “truth” is realizing that Eric and Dylan were dead and had been for quit a while. Their guns were present right by their bodies, cold and lifeless. Another phrase “searched the building..”, and “warned laman to be cautious’ as short straight to the point sentences describing the actions taken by the first responders. They “warned” the detective incase Eric and Dylan left a last hope of a device planted in any of the backpacks lying near lifeless bodies. The SWAT team wanted to save as many lives as they could. Cullen repeatedly states phrases straight to the point emphasize the importance and the conclusion drawn that Eric and Dylan were dead. He finds value in explaining the step-by-step finding from entering the building. He builds a parallel structure throughout with different words to show individual importance with each encounter. He uses different words but leading to the same purpose of illustrating the occurrence of that happened the day within the hours. In “In Cold Blood”, the contemplation and suspenseful reflect the things Dewey is thinking of and what he thinks and knows happened. Dewey is trying to solve what happened that night and five years ago. He was questioning murderers moved furniture and bed covers only to find the reason behind this was to make the victims comfortable during the moment of their death. The author's diction reveals how Dewey thinks about the murders and how he feels about solving the Clitter’s case. When Dewey was investigating the murders he told his team to “keep looking” until they found the “connection” with what happened “sunday morning” and what happened “maybe five years ago”.
The author’s tone in this quote is violent and bitter. Eric saying that he “hated almost everyone “, would support the reader’s thinking towards what kind of person Eric is, and what Eric is thinking. Eric’s use of language almost immediately gives the reader a hint of what he is capable of, not in the sense that he would literally “rip is head off and eat it” but in the sense that he is capable of doing bad things. Given the fact that people throughout the United States have already heard of the mass shooting in Columbine, the reader would promptly identify Eric as the killer and they would be right. He presents all the events by way of an anonymous narrator who reveals all the events from a detached viewpoint. Through Part II the killers are presented more sympathetically. For instance, Capote tells the reader about the hard life Perry Smith has had throughout the book. Perry lived at different orphanages and Salvation Army homes. The passage opens with an examination of Eric’s thoughts in the months before Columbine happened, which can be viewed from numerous passages Eric left behind in his journals. Eric continuously talks about how he will need to suppress his emotions in order to be able to go through with the attack. Cullen is quick to use pathos in order to get readers involved with Eric’s emotions, or lack of, at that time. He takes readers on a journey into Eric's mind as he displays some of the most apathetic lines Eric ever wrote. Cullen points out that “It was a mark of Eric’s ruthlessness that he comprehended the pain and consciously fought the urge to spare it” (276).

They had planned to set off at 11:17 am which was the beginning of lunch “A” when the most amount of people would be in one room at once. Only the pipe bombs had gone went off and the propane bombs have failed and did not go off. Eric and Dylan had only brought guns and planned on using them just to shoot the fleeing survivors of the bombings. After their bombs had not detonated they had resulted to shooting up classrooms and rooms and shot kids at their will since they wanted to do damage. By 11:19 they had begun shooting.
What is a school? A school is designed to be a safe haven for children to go to five days a week to receive an education. What happens when a student steps into his or her school one morning with a weapon, and immediately erases any sense of peace and safety that once existed there? What causes a child to intentionally fire on fellow classmates and faculty? What could possibly be done to prevent these situations?
I believe survivors of the Columbine shooting are not able to to truly move past the tragedy because the community will forever be known as “Columbine the tragedy” rather than Columbine the High School. A traumatic experience in which the individuals faced will stick with them for the rest of their lives. Individuals such as Patrick Ireland is able to create a new life, but is not truly able to move past the tragedy because physical injuries like his pinky or toes will constantly remind him of what occurred on April 20, 1999. Moreover, individuals such as Linda Mauser is unable to move past the shooting even after ten years because she remains angry. Cullen states, “Linda is angry at the cops, the school, the church she finally abandoned” (360).
Argumentative Essay In the USA, there is an overwhelming number of children are dying every day, influencing a great deal of money that is spent, while the topic of gun control is discussed as a solution for these events. There is a big talk about deciding if creating more gun control laws is the right decision to prevent more events of gun violence. Everyone knows that gun control laws are not a realistic solution because guns don't kill people.
