Earthworm and Bullfrog comparison 1/14/2018 Dissecting the Animal Kingdom pd 7 pg1 The organisms i will be comparing are the Earthworm and the Bullfrog, the Earthworm is part of the phylum Annelid and the Bullfrog is part of the Phylum Chordate. The earthworm is a invertebrate and the Bullfrog is a vertebrate. This means that the Earthworm does not have a skeletal structure in its body but a bullfrog does. A key characteristic of both the animals is that they have bilateral symmetry. This means that that you could basically split both of the animals in half and both sides would be the same because they are bilaterally symmetrical, both halves of the body are identical. The bodies do obviously look very different though since the earthworm is snake like and has no appendages whereas the bullfrog has appendages and uses them to move around. The bodies of the two are somewhat similar but also have very different appearances. The Bullfrog and Earthworm are similar in terms of habitat because they both need a moist environment to survive, they can’t allow their skin to dry out. The big difference between the two though is that the earthworm lives underground in soil and the bullfrog lives above land in ponds or lakes. The earthworm typically lives in rainforest areas that have very moist soil, but they are able to live anywhere that has moist soil. The bullfrogs typically stay around lakes or ponds or creeks. They like warm, shallow, and calm waters. The
Terrestrial isopods, commonly known as sowbugs, and pillbugs, given the nickname, roly-polies. Pillbugs develop this name because they have atendency to roll up when they feel like they have been threatened, on the other hand sowbugs do not show this behavior. Pillbugs belong to the members of Phylum Arthropoda and to the class of Crustacea. They share the class of Crustacea with many other unique animals such as the crayfish, lobster, shrimps, crayfish, and barnacles. Pillbugs have a hard segmented exoskeleton, 2 antennas, 2 compound eyes, and seven pairs of
The posterior end of the earthworm is its tail while the hind legs are considered a part of the posterior end of the frog and fetal pig. - The purpose of pining these specific part of the organism to the dissecting tray is to allow the organism’s body to stay in place during the process of dissection. It also provides a clearer view when observing the organism internal
The bull frog has a long and fast tongue to catch their prey with. The bull frog is well populated I would say due to how many eggs they lay. The skin type is permeable. The craziest thing I have ever heard is that a bull frog can lay around 20,000 eggs, which is a lot of eggs which all them eggs float together.
The only animals they eat are spiders, and worms. They hardly ever eat those animals they eat mostly leaves on their diet.
In both cases, the organism is changing forms entirely instead of merely shrinking. We see butterflies so often we know every part of their life cycle and none of it is a mystery to us. On the other hand, we know very little about jellyfish and do not observe their life cycle on a daily basis. Because of this, it was ingenious for the author to include this comparison. I also really like the use of the word “metamorphosis”.
Both of the stories have anthropomorphism. Anthropomorphism is when animals have human characteristics. The animals talked and also wore clothes. The protagonists were clever and smart. Master Cat tricked an ogre by eating him when he turned into a mouse and Coyote cheated in a game of dice when Thunder wasn’t looking.
There are examples of both similarities and differences in trickster tales “Master Cat” and “Coyote Steals Fire”. Imagine if animals could talk would the world be better place and
Piggy and Robin are similar characters because they each help their respective leader, but they are more different than similar because Piggy’s intelligence and loyalty are stronger than Robin’s. First, Robin and Piggy
He shows examples of many animals that will make the reader think twice about how closely they can relate to them. Eliana
Frankenstein and the creature are similar in that they have a moment of dreams and goodness, and that they allude to Paradise Lost in the same context of a fallen angel. However, they are also different in that Frankenstein blames the creature for all the atrocities that have occurred while the creature blames it on his misery, and that Frankenstein has rejected his social life while the creature craves for it. Frankenstein and the creature are similar in that they have a moment of dreams and goodness in their beginnings. Frankenstein began his studies in hopes of becoming famous. The whole reason for the creation of the creature was to become famous for being able to animate the dead.
For example, the man and dog both think the same about the fire. Therefore, the man and dog think differently in some situations and similarly in other situations. In the
We notice that there were different classes of animals in the novel Animal
they have elongated and usually flattened animals with a large number of similar body segments. Centipedes have legs that have four segments of which the terminal one may be further sub segmented and all the legs are the same, except the first pair which are transformed to poison claws and the last which elongated and closed up and backwards as tail feelers. The last legs have a terminal attaching claws and may be variously modified into leaf like rattles organs with spines to grab and hold prey. Centipedes have spiracles pores that are found on top of each leg.
There are 2 types of worms in the area (diurnal and nocturnal) Some variations are favorable. Birds do not eat nocturnal worms (nocturnal worms advantage) More offspring are produced
