The pain and agony due to the fact that I might not be prepared for college class was on my shoulders. Since day one of highschool, my biggest desire throughout school was to be engaged in learning while being well prepared for the next step in life: college. What class was the answer to this class desired? It was in a meeting with my guidance counselor in eighth grade that struck me and sparked the interest in my heart to do well. All of my highschool career I have never known what it actually meant to do well and be ¨successful.¨ The abstract idea occurred to me, in room 201, in the front row of Dual Enrollment English 111; this idea regarded what it means to be successful and obtain a good work ethic while producing a high quality essay. First of all, the biggest takeaway from Dual Enrollment English 111 was that it helped mold myself into the hard worker that everyone always talks about. Throughout much of highschool I have never really had to ¨try.¨ This happened to be a big issue being a senior about to enter college. DE English was the medication I needed. I have seen immeasurable growth in my essay development as well as the ideas conveyed throughout my essay. The array of essays composed in the class has been very educational, and been very beneficial in preparation for college. The College Fear Factor was written by author Rebecca D. Cox, which describes the struggles that students face entering their first year in college. Today, most students always hear about college being an “extremely expensive way to get an education.” While this is true, it has become noticeable that students planning to receive an education at a four-year institution have begun to focus more on the cost of college, rather than the worth of it on who they are as an individual. Overall, the discussion of college has become a very controversial topic. From the cost to the social issues on campus, many people will find several reasons to condemn the idea of college. For students, college is something more difficult in the first year because of the preparedness they had in high school. The main objective that I took away from this course was thinking critically of finding the meaning of what literacy truly is. I would admire to learn how to better compose essays and steps that are needed to a research essay I struggle with compositions of essays and word choice. I will use my critical thinking skills in everyday life whether it be in school or work it’s something that is useful to figure out solutions to problems and I will remember to apply my literacy. My quarter in English 102 kind of got a rough start to it. Beginning of this quarter I had a lot on my plate to an extent that it was affecting my English grade and my other classes.
Coming to Indiana Tech wasn’t my first choice till I came to visit for track. The law building really changed my decision because I really want to become a defense attorney. Also Indiana Tech class size is small so it made me want to come more. I like when my professors can communicate with me and know who I am in class. My decision was final.

ENG-122 Reflective Essay My writing process has changed tremendously over the course of this class. I feel more accomplished, confident and I feel sometimes that my ideas and thoughts just come in to my mind out of nowhere and I start writing about anything now. I pay attention to my punctuation and grammar more as I have polished them more now, not only when I write but then others write as well. I am constantly looking for errors and I highly think this is helping me a lot in my career.
My expectations coming into the course were high and remained high throughout the duration of the course. The essays I wrote in the class really challenged me to progress in my writing skills. Eventually I began cherishing writing as I began my English 1101 class. English 1101 taught me how influential and significant writing can be through novels such as “Civil Disobedience” by Henry David Thoreau and Fredrick Douglass “What to the Slave is the Fourth of July” speech.
