As an avid humanitarian and high achieving honor student, I believe I qualify to receive the Heart O’ Texas Fair and Rodeo Scholarship. When I think of HOT, I think of the quintessential Texan: someone with a big heart, humble soul, and a great attitude. I am a proud Texan and investing in me for this scholarship will help me continue to spread the Texan way of life. One of my greatest passions is community service and philanthropy. In my sophomore year of high school, I began an organization dedicated to my passions. Through my organization, I have earned over 500 hours of community service and was awarded the Presidential Volunteer Service Bronze Medallion for my continued efforts in giving back to the community. During the summer, I assist
Also, I plan to give back to Boy Scout troops in my area by serving as a merit badge counselor for merit badges that involve important life skills, STEM fields, and encourage
Some recent volunteer activities/events were free yoga in the park, a canned good drive, and a free dental clinic for those in need. A graduate
I have been able to help serve the poor in the community as well as focus on legislative goals. This is why I believe I could be of valuable service in not only getting your youth engaged in active community service but organizing it in a way that would truly help the community and leave the youth feeling deeply satisfied with their
One of the many things that I take great pride in is my dedication to serving my community. I think it is extremely important for those who are more fortunate in life to give back to the community, and that is why I joined Teen Advisory Council (TAC). TAC, an affiliate of Youth Resources, is a youth-led group of students from different schools in the Evansville area who serve the greater Evansville youth community through various volunteer projects as well as mentoring programs, fundraising, and civic events all based on the five core values of TAC: volunteerism, integrity, excellence, diversity, and community partnership. One of the most fulfilling service events I volunteered for through TAC is the Dream Center, a place providing after school
What is the “story” of your project or program? I am writing to you on behalf of the Contra Costa Athletic Organization. Our coaching staff’s ultimate goal is to bring a group of male adolescents together by teaching them responsibility, respect, and encouraging them to work together as one so that they can grow into outstanding athletes, and students. This year, we have managed to inspire over 80 students of various cultural and economic backgrounds to be a part of this organization.
Description I volunteered at Meals on Wheels for 15 hours. I worked three days from 8 am to 1 pm.
I am an algebra and geometry tutor in my hometown during the summer. I also volunteer at the Maryland food bank during breaks. In Sewanee, I have participated in civic engagement as part of the African American Alliance and the Hispanic Organization for Latino Awareness. As part of my fraternity "Gamma Sigma Phi," I volunteered in community activities and fundraisers for breast cancer awareness, Sewanee elementary, and Haven for

In addition to education, the center strived for health and wellness and community engagement. While volunteering, I did not have the opportunity to participate in anything other than interacting with the children during their education sessions. However, while interacting with the children I engaged in conversations that acknowledged me on the extra activities the center offered. Surprisingly, I did not expect the center to offer any such thing as health and wellness or community engagement. This is what exceeded my expectations.
I helped organize charity walks, cleaned beaches, volunteered at ASL seminars, and delivered food to construction workers. Most of my work, however, was at the MeCats cat shelter, where over 200 cats had been rescued off the streets, or from abusive households. The cat shelter was highly understaffed, so every week, a team of 10 volunteers cleaned the cat enclosures and groomed the cats. Many of these cats had infections, were blind, or were missing ears or limbs, and needed special care, which we also helped provide.
Michael Jordan, the best to ever play the game of basketball, earned an athletic scholarship because of his amazing talents. Athletic scholarships are used to give athletes the best opportunity athletically while receiving a reduction in tuition or free tuition. “The history of athletic scholarships goes back to the start of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) in 1906” (Kibilko). There are major differences between each division of the NCAA; division one, division two, and division three. Lastly, is the other associations for student athletes such as Junior or Community Colleges and The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).
I plan on volunteering throughout the year, and hopefully the rest of my life. Now that I am a senior its seems like the first day I walked through Westside’s front doors was just months ago, but really it has been four whole
Motivating them to achieve great things and to overcome the obstacles life brings. This wasn’t a community service to me because motivating others is something I enjoy doing. Before the service I’ve mentored students since
I volunteered at this organization and did many things while I was there. I assisted the organization by doing some lawn work and mentoring children at one of the many events this place offers. I improved the looks of their facility by cleaning their
Despite the many community service opportunities available, it was hard to find one that really resonated with me. Originally, I wanted to volunteer with the Inderkum Jr. Tiger (IJT) football program.
