I do not think that Google is a bigger threat to social welfare than Microsoft. The reason behind this being that Google is a search engine. A person just makes a click with a mouse to change the search engine provider. Whereas, it is way more difficult for the average person to change what kind of operating system they are using. Google is not primarily a monopoly but its sheer dominance of the market and lack of any viable competition makes it look like one because at the moment, everything from web design to optimization primarily depends on Google! Google is a worldwide, leading online search engine and become an integrated part of most people's lives, and businesses now depend on Google for effective advertising, where thousands of advertisers
