Henry VIII was born on June 28, 1491, in Greenwich. Henry presided over the beginnings of the English Renaissance and the English Reformation. Henry VIII was the second son of King Henry VII and Elizabeth of York. Henry’s personality included a lot of intelligence, learning,and curiosity which impressed the ambassadors that were in his court. Henry showed a charismatic athleticism and a very diverse appetite for art, music, and culture. On top of that Henry was very witty and highly educated, being that he was the second in the Tudor Dynasty. He also enjoyed to gamble and joust and hosted many tournaments and banquets.

Due to the fact that Henry forced the archbishop of England at that time a divorce, without the pope knowing, it caused England to break away from the Roman Catholic Church and having Henry place himself as the head of the church. Henry's second wife was Anne Boleyn and had died in a pretty gruesome way. After nearly seven years Henry went after the only goal he had which was a male heir. Unfortunately for Queen Anne Boleyn she was not able to produce this male. Later on during their marriage Henry heard that she was having an affair with one of Henry’s confidants. Upon hearing this Henry sentenced Anne to trial for treason and adultery. After Anne was found guilty she was beheaded. The third of the six wives was Jane Seymour. This wive was the most important to Henry due to the fact that she produced Prince Edward, so that the tudor dynasty could continue after Henry's death. Unfortunately during the birth of Edward she caught an infection and died only 12 days after the birth. The next wive was Anne of Cleves and due to the fact that she barely spoke English and had a lack of romance with Henry, Henry began looking for his next wife almost immediately.
