When it comes down to it, everyone has the one person or aspect that they truly cherish in life; however, when that adored commodity is lost, people find themselves to be lost, and are immediately forced to resort to hope. Ray Bradbury, the author of “All Summer in a Day” and Wiz Khalifa (feat. Charlie Puth), the artist of “See You Again” explain this universal message with the intent of achieving common purposes. In “All Summer in a Day,” the reader learns about the immense danger of hope, and how significantly it can affect someone mentally. This is present throughout the entire story, as Margot is so optimistic about seeing the sun once again, but is later heartbroken when her classmates strip that experience away from her. “In the center of it, cupped and huge, was a single raindrop. She began to cry, looking at it. They glanced quietly at the sun.” In this part of the story, Bradbury is showing the reader how Margot’s hopefulness led her into this position, being miserable at the least. All throughout the story, the author is consistently using metaphors to make the sun seem like such a prominent figure, like an above life persona. He uses numerous phrases such as “how like a lemon it [the sun] was, and how hot. This is obvious in the eyes of the reader, but Margot’s classmates, who haven’t fully seen the sun’s glory, are moved by this, but also envious. Bradbury is essentially advertising the sun throughout the text, making it seem like much more than it truly is, and in doing so, the reader is left with a harsh, yet frank truth at the end of the story: yes, hope can be a good feeling to have, but in reality, it can also be a menacing force that can mentally drain someone. In contrast, “See You Again” highlights the exaltation that comes with hope, and how it can turn a dark situation into a lighter one. Not only this, but the artists focus much more on reuniting with lost friends. This isn’t shown in the other piece, as Margot never truly has the opportunity to do this. Wiz Khalifa states, “How could we not talk about family when family's all that we got? Everything I went through you were standing there by my side. And now you gonna be with me for the last ride.” Even though Walker isn’t
