Poseidon is one of the most known Greek gods throughout Greek myths. It is said that Poseidon controlled more then just the sea he also was able to control earthquakes droughts, rivers, and even floods. Even though Poseidon was one of the more powerful Greek gods he tended to have a bad temper as there are various stories about Poseidon some have even said he gave humans the first horse.
Poseidon had a stormy and violent nature but also was stubborn. Poseidon's palace deep in the ocean then sought after a wife to bear his child. The first sea nymph (Thetis) he had courted was a little too good as Poseidon left her after he learned that she could birth a child even greater than its father. As he moves on to court another sea nymph (Ampritrite) she rejects Poseidon but Poseidon did not give up instead he sends a messenger to persuade to come back to him and be his wife. Although u would think that after `putting in all that effort he would be content but he insisted on having extramarital affairs which had resulted in an unhappy marriage.

Letting his greed for more power get to him he would challenge other god like Athena for the Athenians, Zeus for Aegina, and even Hera for Argolis but often times he would fail at the challenges for more power.With his stuborness even though he fails he doesn't give up and continues his challenges for power. This greed causes Poseidon to only focus on how to achieve more power which causes him to be rather unpopular with the other

Because of the amount of disrespect towards the gods, Poseidon got revenge by making his journey very tiring and difficult, by sending storms, winds, monsters, etc. Poseidon’s anger is one of the main reasons why Odysseus’ journey took such a lengthy time. The impact of Odysseus’ actions led him to pleading for help from the gods: “I have escaped the salt sea and Poseidon. Even the deathless gods respect a man who is as lost as I am right now” (5.446-449). After Poseidon had sent the monsters and deadly winds, Odysseus had come to realize how much respect means to the gods.
Poseidon is one God against him. Poseidon does everything he can to keep him away from home till Odysseus learns a lesson that Poseidon was trying to get to him. Many Gods also try to help Odysseus, one very helpful one being the god of the wind, Aeolus. Aeolus gives him a sack of wind which helps Odysseus get home but the problem with that. You only get one use out of it so if you open it when you don’t have good timing.

Poseidon is one of the gods that that most people would want to kick out of society, but he should be kept in this society because he is the king of the sea which has many benefits. He also controls the floods that we have and provides us with water so we won’t have droughts. This shows he is an advantage to our society. Although the opposition believes that the gods should be kicked out of the society, the gods actually do good things for humans.
Their story was strangely similar to Poseidon and Talia’s. This persuaded Zeus to allow Poseidon to continue being with Talia. He was thankful he had kept trying, even if he was knocked down pretty hard, he only came back stronger. This experience inspired him to turn to the positive outlooks of every situation, and know every tough path has a light at the end of the tunnel.

Poseidon struck fear into many people, and he was considered the greediest and moodiest, most bad-tempered of the Olympian gods. His family, symbols, myths, and his worship are reflections of people’s reactions to his rage.
From the beginning of the play, Euripides establishes the ultimate and selfish power of the gods. Poseidon’s authority is immediately conveyed in the prologue through Euripides' use of stage directions. Poseidon is positioned higher than Hecuba who is “lying face down and quite still” to represent his disconnection from mortals and his superiority. His power is reinforced through his language and his repetition of the use of the word “I” and his declaration “I am a God” to indicate that he is offended about the situation that Troy is in. Furthermore, Euripides demonstrates Poseidon’s egotistical nature by his decision to desert “famous Troy” because there is nobody to worship and pay respect to the gods.

Poseidon liked to claim coastal cities as his own since he was god of the sea. Once, Poseidon and Athena went head to head over ownership of a city which would later be named after the victor. The story goes that Athena and Poseidon held a contest to see which one would be able to control the beautiful coastal city. Poseidon raised his hand and made a stream. When the people drank from the stream it turned out to be saltwater, not freshwater.
