The Industrial Revolution occurred in America during the late 1800’s to the early 1900’s. It was a period of great change, including advances in business, technology, and the growth of cities. These events produced a change that would forever alter the US's standing economically. The Industrial Revolution had both positive and negative major effects on America and the world. During the Industrial Revolution there were many beneficial events that occurred. One of the biggest effects was the growth of the US’s economy. At the time, America was not a big economic competitor in the world, but now the USA has the number one biggest economy on Earth. It had increased 300 percent in just over 20 years, an incredible growth in such a relatively short period of time. Due to this increased economic growth, more jobs were made available and the overall quality of life increased for those making an increased salary. Another major effect of the Industrial Revolution was new technology being developed. Many positives were the effect of this revolution, including an increased economy and new technological advancements. Other good things that occurred were the growth of cities and urbanization, and the standards set by Henry Ford for his employees. Despite these many positives, there were still negative effects, examples of which are less skilled workers being hired and the bad acts of violence Robber Barrons committed. In addition to these, the Lassez-Faire government didn't regulate labor laws, and the terrible working conditions in factories led to major health issues in their workers.
