The story Lord of the Flies contains strong characters with various events that give them life. Jack, one of the main characters in the story, represents this thoroughly. During the story, Ralph and Piggy run into a choir group lead by a boy named Jack. Jack, like Ralph, show leader like qualities and they run against each other for the title of leader of the island. Jack loss the title to Ralph but they come to an agreement to make Jack chief of the island. Soon after organizing statuses and the children, Jack states that he and his peers in the choir will hunt for food. Since Jack has obtained the status of the chief and a hunter, he starts to undergo some character building changes. Further in the story Jack and his hunters transform into bloodthirsty savages who hunt for the thrill of slaughter. This all began with the death of a pig, the thrill of the hunt, and the murder of a fellow survivor. Right after the children got situated on the island, Ralph, Jack, and another boy from the choir named Simon went to explore the island. At the end of the book, Jack has become a beast at heart who lusts for blood and blood alone. Jack and Ralph get into an argument for the right to use Piggy's glasses to cook the meat that they hunt. Jack starts to get violent and they start fighting each other for the glasses. In an act of trying to stop the fight, piggy grabs the conch shell to get the attention of everyone and tell them to stop fighting. Soon after the hunters notice Piggy, they push a boulder off a mountain to kill piggy. Ralph, trying to save Piggy, pushes him away but the rock strikes Piggy, shattering the conch shell, and killing Piggy by pushing him off the mountain.
