The first character I want to talk about is Mr. Bilbo Baggins because in my view he is the character that went thorough the most change in compare to any other character that we read about so far. Mr. Bilbo Baggins is the main character/hero in the book and we can analyze and critique his journey from “Joseph Campbell: Hero with a Thousand Faces, 1949.” In the beginning of the book, Mr. Bilbo Baggins is living in Bag End, a hobbit community, like every other hobbit he is comfortable and content. He loves his food, his pipe, and his snug little hole. This here, Bag End, is the ordinary world and this where Mr. Bilbo Baggins lives in, but there is more to Mr. Bilbo Baggins than what meets the eye. Bilbo Baggins finds another side of himself he is the one leading the group of dwarves. In chapter 8 Mr. Bilbo Baggins shows real bravery by been able to set himself and the dwarves free from the spiders. In chapter 9 Mr. Bilbo Baggins shows intelligence by been able to devise a plan to set the dwarves free from the wood elves prison. In chapter 12 it is Mr. Bilbo Baggins alone that goes into Smaug dragon’s lair and he is also able to find Smaug’s vulnerable spot. His relationship with his family is not in a great place in the movie, with all the broken promises he keeps making and him being very impatient with his children. His wife, Moira is also frustrated with Peter Banning for putting in too much work and putting in little time with his family. Peter Banning is the main character/hero in the book and we can analyze and critique his journey from “Joseph Campbell: Hero with a Thousand Faces, 1949.” As you can see Peter Banning is living in the ordinary world and this even goes as far as Peter Banning not knowing that he is Peter Pan or knowing that Neverland exists. Then comes Hook, who kidnaps Peter Banning children from him and in doing so he brings Peter Banning into Neverland an unusual world. To rescue his children Peter Banning need the help of the lost boys and that is the trail in his hero journey. Peter Banning lost his way as Peter pan and the lost boys don’t really look forward to following an old man that left them and that is especially true for the new leader Rufio.
