His friends spread many embarrassing rumors about him and they spread quickly, and eventually led him to suicide. Things like this happens to millions of children around the world and these kids suffer from embarrassing pictures, mean texts, and horrifying social media posts. To most people the general stereotype of a bully is a oversized male who physically and verbally harms a smaller weaker student. With the internet any small physically weak child can become as much of a bully as the big and the brute but with even more impact. Second, most children who go through face to face bullying say that when they get home nothing can happen to them, but through the internet anyone can be harmed anywhere and anytime even in their “safe” homes. Cyberbullying can happen in any circumstances making it easier for anyone to bully another. It can happen through any electronic device through texting, the internet, social media, and even video games. Not just this, the long term effect of cyberbullying is much larger than any other form of bullying. Digital images, cell phones, and other electronic means can greatly increase the speed in which the bully's messages can spread. In the year 2000 a University of New Hampshire study found that one out of every 17, or six percent of kids in the United States, had been threatened or harassed online. But in March of 2006, statistics showed that 75 to 80 percent of 12 to 14 year olds had been cyber bullied.

However, the issue evolves as time goes on and now cyber bullying exists. Cyber bullies can insult others over the internet with no need to be nearby the person they are insulting.
