Introduction
Ladies and gentlemen, it’s a pleasure to be here today. My name is Ida Langstrup, and I’m an international student here at the University of London.

Today I'll be giving a speech. A speech where I'll touch on the topic of illegal immigration in the United States. I'll briefly account of the immigration reform (Immigration Accountability Executive Action) passed by President Barack Obama on November 20th, 2014. I'll then explain how this reform will be affecting people, and who these people are. Lastly, I'll analyse the opposing views on the issue, and discuss, if the reform is a suitable solution to the dilemma which is illegal immigration in the United States.
The Clarification of the Reform

The reform is a step in the “right” direction. Instead, or at least parallel with, of focusing on the implementation of illegal immigrants they should concentrate on the prevention of the illegal immigrants coming to the country in the first place. And no, Mr Trump, building a 30 feet tall wall at the Mexican border is not what preventing means. It means, however, supporting countries such as Mexico with economic support to help them become the kind society that America is. It means ensuring proper education for the children in the countries, and it means social support for the families who have the most problems. Consequently, in my opinion, this would help both sides of the problem long term.
Conclusion
The new immigration reform might be a suitable solution, but not a sustainable one. In addition to this, the American society is filled with different opinions on the matter. Furthermore, the illegal immigration might not be the worst thing to happen to a country, you just have to understand, what impact it would make if it weren’t there. Thank you for your attention, that’s all I had for you today. But if you have any questions, I would be more than happy to answer
According to a study released last year by the Pew Hispanic Center, as of 2008, 11.9 million illegal immigrants lived in the United States, more than triple the 3.5 million who lived in the country in 1990 (Izumi). Immigration throughout the years has become a major issue in the U.S because of too many immigrants entering the country year after year. The U.S has come to a point whether they should deport the immigrants back to their country. Believe it or not, these immigrants are a big contribution to the U.S. If it wasn’t for them, the U.S economy wouldn’t be where it stands now.

Immigration reform has been a big issue for our country in recent years. Many U.S. citizens claim that immigration is harmful to the US economy. In just 20 years, we have seen the average number of immigrants per year jump a staggering 20%. This has lead to the biased opinions we see towards immigration today. Currently, our country is not receiving any benefit from immigration.
“The American story is a story of immigration. I would be the last person who would say immigrants are not important to America.” — Phil Graham, circa 1960. This quote may be from the mid-20th century, but it keeps its significance with the everlasting controversy on immigration and immigration laws. However, this is not the only time that the United States has experienced immigration controversies.
In times such as now, immigration policy is a topic of controversial and emotional discussion. The key in having educational, progressive, and prosperous conversations is understanding the theoretical foundations behind the argument that a person stands for or believes in. Having factual evidence to support ideas on concepts such as: the opportunities that immigrants bring to a country, what the international rules actually are that govern the entry and exit of people from one country to another, and the causes, trends, and consequences of international immigration. Finding reason and support for these claims can take the discussion behind immigration policy from one of heated and emotional argument to one of educational and beneficial conversation.
With the current election raging, illegal immigration has been the hot topic amongst both liberals and conservatives. Many conservatives believe that illegals steal jobs, abuse tax benefits, and, most importantly, threaten their way of life. Liberals, on the other hand, support immigration reform based purely on sympathy. They understand that many Latin Americans go through extreme measures to escape hopeless situations back home. While there’s nothing wrong with sympathy for our fellow humans, it may serve to be beneficial to look at immigration reform through the lens of reason.
Hello everyone. I would like to start saying how immigration nowadays became, sometimes a problem and sometimes the opposite of what a problem is. This is due to how our society works and how people live in a specific place, country and, last but not least, nation. For those of you who do not know the difference between countries and nations; the meaning is similar, but not the same; so there IS a difference. Probably everyone here knows what a country is, but what about nations?
Despite the multiple attempts at creating a well-rounded immigration reform the United States has failed to achieve the full capacity of the reform. The United States first failure at the reform was in 1986 when congress passed the “Immigration Reform and Control Act”. The purpose of this legislation was to amend, revise, and re-assess the status of unauthorized immigrants set forth in the Immigration and Nationality Act. The content of this bill is overwhelming and is divided into many sections such as control of unauthorized immigration, legalization and reform of legal immigration.
Our policies on illegal immigration can diminish the problem by enforcing immigration laws, revoking birthright autonomy, and demanding proof of citizenship when applying for social services. Immigration has become a major problem in this country and needs to be restricted. Our economic implications would be beneficial towards the U.S. economy. Without the crutch of illegal immigrants holding us back, our U.S. economy can prosper more than ever. Due to the current economic slowdown, labor demands had been reduced and has forced many out of work.
I.Introduction One of the greatest controversies in modern day is illegal immigrants. There are an approximate 11.4 undocumented immigrants that live in our country today. Now with your new action in place, I think it’s a good thing. Mainly because it allows lasting illegal immigrants to stay here, it allows jobs to go to documented americans, and gives children hope for a better future ahead. II.
Body I. [First main point:] In the bright side, remission for illegal immigration or legalize them can result in a stronger nation. A. [Sub-point #1:] Due to the status we have labeled them as Illegal immigration, make them feel like they are not a part of the nation and lose some benefits. By changing these people to be legalized might be a sign to build American stronger.
I am eternally grateful for all of the support and guidance this community has provided for me. It truly does take a village to raise a child and I find it hard to believe that there is any village more invested in raising its future generation than Painesville. That means that I must remember this as I become a man that can provide for his village, and I know that I will find myself back in my true village to provide the same amount of unbounded support that helped me get to where I am right now. One of the largest issues facing my community is the immigration policy changes that are currently being framed as a literal wall meant to cause a division in this wonderful nation. As a proud Mexican-American student, I can already see the division this immigration proposal has caused, all without any actual advances on the building of said wall.
“The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated”. Do you know who says this quote? It came from a famous person from India, Mahatma Gandhi. Nowadays, many animals are abused and injured. The worst thing is when they become experimental material for chemical products experiments.
Additional possible fallacies of the speech is, once people vote against immigration, the people who oppose this act believe this will solve all economic, and social problems. The possible immigration reform is suggesting, the illegal immigrants are saved from everything, and that it was in good faith to enter the country illegally. The speech will persuade people to rethink the advantages and the possible effects for voting against illegal immigration
To conclude I would like to say that it is a very complete solution as it provides many benefits in the different aspects that I mention before. Nevertheless there are many other courses of action. This is a solution that will solve part of the problem but it cannot be implemented alone. Other such as education and legal are also needed.
