Sadly there are many pediatric heart conditions in the world that are treated every day, and many more arise as well these cases include ASD, VSD, PDA and TOF. The first major condition being Atrial Septal Defect (ASD). This defect is actually in the septum the wall that separates the right and left sides of the heart. A hole in the wall between the two upper chambers is called an atrial septal defect, or (ASD). This is one of the least complex forms of congenital heart defect of the many in infants, and was one of the first types to actually be repaired surgically.
Generate: Heart auscultation is useful in characterizing heart sounds and identifying abnormalities that may suggest cardiac dysfunction.1 The fourth heart sound (S4 atrial gallop), heard during the patient’s physical examination, is often an abnormal finding due to reduction in ventricular wall compliance.1,2 Additionally, S4 occurs due to rapid deceleration of active blood flow due to a nondistensible ventricle.2 S4 can be heard in patients with hypertension, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and acute myocardial infarction (AMI).1,2

After the rollercoaster of emotions Hearties experienced last Sunday I think we deserved a much lighter episode this week, which is exactly what we got! This episode, entitled Healing Heart, picks up two weeks after Jack left for the North. We find Elizabeth having mixed emotions. She is happy knowing that she is engaged to the love of her life, but of course is worried for his safety and anxious not knowing when he'll return. We are also introduced to some more new faces, we learn more about Abigail's new cook, and we add business woman to Rosemary's list of many talents.

When I was born, the doctors noticed something strange. Something wasn’t quite right with one of my organs. They looked into it and found that the problem was a weaker variation of Kawasaki disease. Kawasaki disease is a heart disease where the cells in your heart don’t recognize friendly cells and attack them, creating an inflammation. It’s a rare disease, found mostly in Japanese patients like me.
